LOL!!!! The White House tailor threw Trump under the bus

Trump's look is not my fault, says White House tailor as he insists he doesn't know where President got his poorly fitted state banquet attire from - while Savile Row expert reveals: 'It's wrong in every way!'

Ismet Dil's company has provided outfits to American Presidents for a century

Mr Dil, 69, tailor at Scogna Formal Wear, said he did not recognise Trump's suit

Patrick Murphy, from Savile Row tailor Davies and Son, said 'everything you can imagine' was wrong with suit

The official tailor to the White House has insisted he's not to blame for President Donald Trump's ill-fitting tuxedo at the state banquet with the Queen.

Ismet Dil, 69, whose company has provided dinner jackets and tails to America's leaders for a century, claimed he didn't recognise the suit, which was heavily mocked online and criticised for being 'wrong in every way' by a Savile Row tailor.

'This is my profession. It’s not right,' Mr Dil, the master tailor at Scogna Formal Wear told The Times.

'I don’t care if he is president. Someone is responsible — somebody helped him get dressed like that.'

Trump chose to wear a ludicrously long white waistcoat, paired with a tux jacket that stopped halfway up his midriff and featured overlong sleeves.

As well as Altering clothes already made, I noticed those faux pas also.

I wonder if that was intentional on the Tailor's part given Trump's body type. A shorter vest would have made him look even tubbier at the waist as more of the trousers would have to be seen then from a distance.

But what can you do when your subject looks like a tub of lard?

Two or three years ago GQ noticed and did an electronic "makeover" that was impressive. His size and shape can be dealt with discreetly, and all the rest of the disaster from pants cuffs to jacket sleeves can as well.

Frankly, in England he looked like an old man who's slipping and probably needs the car keys taken away as well.

We are all starting to understand the way the man thinks and what HE sees when he looks in a mirror - the fake tan, the hair, and the ridiculous attempts to disguise his ever expanding girth. Most of us are deceived by what we see in the mirror occasionally, but then we see a photo or catch a glimpse in a store window and wonder "What the hell was I thinking?"

Trump is probably the most photographed and filmed man on the planet and apparently, he still cannot see how clownish he looks. There is truly something wrong with the way his brain works.

that's not a tuxedo he's wearing -- the outfit is called white tie and tails, and the coat itself is called a tailcoat. A tuxedo looks more like a suit.

Other than that, yeah, the whole outfit looks terrible, and the Queen's totally English expression looks like, "Blimey, can I ever bloody unsee this?????"

maybe a documentary on the Royal Family, where it was revealed what she carries. I don't remember exactly, but it was nothing unusual; like maybe tissues and lipstick.

One thing she supposedly carries all the time is one of those clips you put on a table to hang your purse.

I wanted to beat my head against the wall.

What he was wearing was white tie and tails, an entire level of formality above the tuxedo, which is 'black tie.'

And even the term 'tuxedo' is a rather crass nickname given to what should be called an evening suit.

Clip-ons are for wimps.

Every man should know how to tie a bow tie. Every time I put on formal wear, I tie my bow tie. Looks better that way.

Beau Brummel once complained that it took him an hour to make his cravat look as if it had been carelessly and hastily tied.

One tug on the tail and the whole thing comes apart. Plus, an untied bow tie will make you look like Frank Sinatra after a set in Vegas.

With a clip-on, you have to undo that metal clip, which could take longer.

Also, if you feel like your tie is choking you, it probably is because it's too tight. Tie it more loosely. A tailor once told me that businesswear and formal wear should be as comfortable as casual clothing. If it isn't, it's not fitted properly.

Technically in full-blown white tie, not even the tiniest sliver of waistcoat.should show below the jacket, but that's so common these days it only matters if you're in the Met Gala contest or something. So much better than that sartorial monstrosity we just witnessed...

And not being a royal and under the British fashion microscope is understandable. Had he let Michelle tie it I thinking it would have been perfect. But if that man was dressed perfectly he would upstage the queen!

His cuffs show on the right arm but not the left. But, you can see he is wearing French Cuffs as he should and I would bet $1000 there is a story about the cuff links he is weary. Since Trumps sleeves come to his tiny fingertips who knows?

How many of you have been to a big Southern Baptist Church in the South on Sunday morning?

I grew up in them. The sartorial taste would make a Savile Row Tailor slit a wrist. Women wearing dresses that look like drapes. Men with hugely ill fitting suits with cowboy boots. And when Tammie Faye Baker was wearing the caked on makeup we made fun of she was endearing herself to those women, and men and those churches. It’s pathetic the way they try to act like they are sophisticated.

30 years ago when I took my wife to the boonies to meet them, my wife, who is actually sophisticated and thin and who dresses and uses make-up in an appropriately understated way to meet them, they saw her as “plain”. If only they knew.

The fact that she had a way better job than them, or me at the time, did not help either.

But trust me. Trump looking like he showed up at the palace straight from the trailer park makes them giddy.

Or perhaps it's a spanx-type underpinning recommended by Chris Christie.

Cinched his, eh, vest down over his sucked-in belly/brain. Can see his waistband budging thru. He looked in the mirror, and saw perfection despite the drooping pants. And then, no one in his entourage dared say he looked like a buffoon.

(Tooo, Pence would have gone into fits if 'Mother' had a man's silhoulette cast upon her ivory, buzzsaw dress.)

Would put her house dress on backwards, apply lipstick to her face not just her lips, etc.

But she was really sweet and simply needed someone to help her. Trump may dress like this because he's demented, but I think it's because he doesn't care. He expects everyone else to follow his lead and start wearing poorly fitting clothes.

Sun Jun 9, 2019, 02:25 AM
Jun 2019

My great uncle developed schizophrenia shortly after a terrible fever. He's lived a rather balanced life since (esp. compared with those without any such diagnosis). Thinks that Trump is awful. I wouldn't lump individuals with schizophrenia in with malignant narcissism. I think tRump could be unable to see himself accurately, but that does not make him necessarily like the one schizophrenic that you know.

I think it is important to try to assimilate how he is like...that guy...that gal, but honestly the money/time it takes to fluff a man like trump is not worth it. He is exactly like the guy who bulldozed my in-laws tree farm....

I'm feeling you, just don't lump those in with 'him' unless they mean harm.

The bulldozer guy means harm. Backwards dresses, not so much. My Uncle? He's a good man.

136. Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Sun Jun 9, 2019, 12:40 PM
Jun 2019

He obsessives over his perceived flaws and compulsively covers them up in ways that only fool himself:

-He always has the shoulders too wide in his suits--he thinks it makes him look like a strongman with broad shoulders.
-His pants are too loose to hide his pudgy knock-kneed legs and his thighs that rub together.
-His pants and sleeves are too long because he insists he is taller than he actually is to whoever makes his clothes. Whoever that is likely must sign an NDA.
-He likes others to believe he still has a 36" waist so no wonder his cumberbund for his formal attire does not fit and he leaves his oversized business suit jackets open to cover his real waistline.
-He appears to wear high lifts in his shoes. He can be seen at different heights at different times, but when he is wearing a suit for a serious function he is taller, leans forward when standing, and walks awkwardly.
-He appears to have weaves in his hair to make it seem thicker and mane-like. There are times the seams cause a weird bulge/pleat where his part is and who can forget pictures of him from the back when the wind lifted his hair like a wing--exposing very thin fine stuff at the back of his head that looked almost bald.
-He has his skin spray-tanned to pretend the look of a healthy outdoorsy guy, but the goggles he wears to protect his eyes leave rings of purplish-white doughy skin he doesn't seem to notice when he looks in a mirror. He also wears a shower cap when getting sprayed because you can see a demarcation line.

His aides cover his desk with only flattering stories and pictures for him to pour through every day. He needs to believe he looks great and is respected. No wonder he gravitated to Fox news and claims everything else is fake.
