(62,444 posts)I believe there is a pinned post in the television forum which explains how you can couple your television to Malaise's remote, so that you're always watching the same channel she is.

(5,557 posts)My brother-in-law is a huge gun nut and mostly shoots and has amassed a huge arsenal for fun. He even has legal machine guns for fun.
Recreational shooting is a big thing in rural areas like mine. I'd guess far more assault rifles are bought with fun in mind than for militia conspiracy theory kooky reasons. We just notice the loud crazy ones a lot more. Derailing a bit, but I do think almost all assault rifle owners would willingly disarm if paid enough money for their death sticks.

(56,582 posts)Most of them are too low caliber to legally hunt with, and almost nobody hunts anymore anyways. They're really just expensive and dangerous entertainment devices.

BTW, if you call them MSSAs (Military-Style Semi-Automatics), then Gunners won't get their gun feewings hurt so quickly.

(17,863 posts)Shooting actually is fun. I only did a little as a kid, and I haven't fired anything larger than a pellet rifle in 30 years, but it is fun.
Firing off rockets is also fun.
Blowing stuff up is fun as well (see popularity of fireworks).
That being said semi-automatics should be carefully regulated. You should not be able to fire more than six shots without spending some time to reload. I had plenty of fun with my single shot .22 and my one barrel 20 gauge shotgun. I had to hold back tears when I gave them to my nephews.
