first editions, but wouldn't that have to be unabridged?

What does it mean when a book is a first edition?
In the simplest terms, a first edition is the first commercially distributed version of a book. For the purposes of modern collectible books, first edition is shorthand for the first printing of the first edition of a work. ... First editions are prized because they are as close as a reader can get to the source.

and will have to be turned over so they may be stored in the National Archives?

It is possible, if Trump ever has a library, that the gifts could be moved there for display (no word on whether or not naming the prison library after him would count as a "presidential" library.). Or, after he leaves office, they may be given the chance to purchase them for fair market value.
