(34,136 posts)Well, maybe a little yellower but it was walls and ceiling. The overall effect was a school bus turned inside out. The bedroom was painted purple including the ceiling.
I painted the entire place white and it felt twice as big.

that was painted forest green. Very closed in. I did faux finishes on the living dining of one apartment. That was gorgeous. I wonder if it is still there? It was years after I left as I drove by and could see it. It was Mediterranean aged plaster yellow. No polka dots. But yeah. Stick with light colours unless you really need to set a mood and Don't mind the walls closing in.

(34,136 posts)It's a beautiful color but that room is the darkest one in the house already, then with the dark walls it is oppressive.
Next year we're adding a new living room onto the front of the house with loads of windows for lots of light. I may paint what walls we have a medium/light Williamsburg blue. The existing living/dining room will become my studio/archive (for needlework and genealogical stuff) and those walls will be antique white.
Years ago we lived in a double wide that came with "walnut" wood toned paneling in the living and dining room. When I remodeled it I faux treated the walls with what we called the "smooshed" effect. We painted the walls off white, then put a light blue glaze over it, spread plastic sheeting onto the wet glaze, and pulled it off. It looked sort of marblized and was very nice background for our art and antique furniture.
But I realized that very little of the walls show under all our stuff so I will never spend that much time and effort on a wall treatment again. In fact I had to fight with the builders to do just a flat treatment on the walls - they wanted to do a faux stucco effect on the dry wall. I finally ended up with what they called "orange peel" which has nearly no texture.

It feels like she tries to stand out on her clothing selections but just misses edgy and slides into frumpy.

I am pretty sure that print is by Marimekko, the Finnish design firm known for its bold prints. If it is not actually a print from them, it surely is meant to be a tribute.

Is the tightly cinched belt there to hold up her new, er, "kidneys" or to emphasize them?
Back in about 1970 I had a used couch in the basement that looked almost like that couch.

(63,221 posts)Does she have a stylist? If so, they should be fired immediately! If not, she needs to get one. Her taste in fashion is criminal. And what is with the belted look all the time? It flatters nobody, especially women with large, um, "kidneys".
I'm going to vote to keep that pattern where it belongs:

(32,086 posts)Or else she's trying to hide having taken up her husband's habit of stress eating? I wouldn't mock her for any weight gain or appearance of such, but I'm surprised that her shallow POS of a husband would permit her to go out in public looking like she put on 20 pounds--even if it was just due to her clothing.

(40,212 posts)The jacket in reply #31 cost $50,000. The price was mentioned on the news that day.
I think a lot of the time she looks like she is wearing a shower curtain. I think she tends to have taste in clothing that is very "Runway" and not actually real clothes.
