Kriya Naidu worked hard to become University High School valedictorian. It is supposed to be a proud day for both the student and her parent. But the cancerous growth that is the Trump Effect that is metastasizing into too many Americans fearing the convergence of meritocracy and privilege was in full vogue.
The school barred her from speaking as customary and did not have her cross the stage first as valedictorians do at the school. Her speech was preapproved but they feared she would deviate. But isn't that the case with any valedictorian?
While they made her day difficult, she got the last laugh as they were exposed for what they are.

So typical and she probably worked a long time on getting the speech just perfect revising and practicing as it was a one time life experience then cut on the day of . That must have really thrown her until then the procession was changed too!

(8,419 posts)WTF, the kid did nothing in four years to suggest she would deviate from her pre approved speech. She probably never missed an assignment, never turned in anything late, would be concerned about her impact on College if she did deviate. But the MAGAt Principal decided she might? Why?
IGNORANT MOTHER FUCKERS!

(17,863 posts)I don't know about the joke regarding the teachers taking bribes. Also glorifying the vandalism of a toilet fire. I am see why there were exceptions to the speech. Other than that it seemed like a good speech.
The jokes were not sufficient to change the normal process. They were not mean spirited. She should have been trusted to give her speech.
