Two Days After Mueller's Statement, the Path Is Clearer Than Ever

There's one thing that the Democratic Party doesn't get. It's something that individual Democrats understand quite well and they reap the rewards from it. And it goes like this: People want to follow fighters. You can add to that: The fight needs to be absolutely clear. That can be policy based, as in Medicare for All or, if you're a fucking lying prickscab, "Mexico will pay for the wall." But it can also be tactical.

See, Democrats can have all the hearings they want. They can have all the subpoena fights the judicial system can handle. A dozen committees and subcommittees can have witnesses and experts testify about the criminality of the Trump administration. But no one is gonna give a single shit about those things except all the assholes who are constantly checking Twitter to see who "destroyed" who in a 3-minute video. (Note: Yeah, I'm one of those assholes, and it has made me seek the comfort of vicodin and vodka, a V&V cocktail that can straight murder you if you're not careful.)

What people can get their heads around is a single, simple concept: impeachment. It crystallizes all that other shit into a concept that is analogous to "fight." As in, "Holy Christ, Democrats are finally gonna stop being such punk-ass bitches and actually fight this dumb orange motherfucker who is wrecking the joint. About fuckin' time."

snip//

See, Democrats don't have to go after Trump for conspiring. They can go after his refusal to acknowledge that Russia did what our own investigations say it did. They can go after his refusal to get behind the efforts to protect the vote. They can go after his disturbing faith in Vladimir Putin. In other words, they can go after Trump for dereliction of duty, for violating his oath of office, and for being such an egomaniacal prick that the legitimacy of his election is more important than the legitimacy of our entire democratic system.

Impeachment would tie together so many threads for Americans. And, goddamnit, Mueller should testify before a House committee because we're not a reading people in the USA. Hell, just having Mueller repeat shit like a live podcast of his report would probably do more to turn the tide against Trump than all the printed words they can muster. (And he could answer whether or not he wanted the FBI post that Trump says he wanted.)

And Democrats better do this shit soon because Trump is listening to some nutzoid ratfuckers on this. Not only did he say in his mad rant yesterday that a court wouldn't "allow" impeachment (the Supreme Court has nothing to do with it until the trial in the Senate after impeachment, where the Chief Justice presides), he said to reporters, "Someday, you ought to read a thing called Article 2. Read Article 2, which gives the President powers that you wouldn’t believe. But I don’t even have to rely on Article 2."

Yeah, you can try to stop him now with impeachment or you can wait until he comes up with a pretext to shitcan the Congress while Republicans totally agree they should give him all the power.

since Lorenna Bobbit, OJ Simpson, the Menendez brothers trials and Clinton’s impeachment! And add to that that it’s presidential election season and you have the perfect timing to get rid of the asshole for good.

The fake reality show master will be destroyed by the real reality show.

Drag all the dirty laundry out -- the tax returns, the dirty Russian connections, the paid-off ex-love affairs, the shady business deals, the laundered money, etc. etc. etc.

What would Mitch McConnell Do? The Dems will never take back the Senate until they are willing to stoop to Mitch McConnell's level and fight fire with fire. There is nothing that the Dems will gain as long as they continue to allow themselves to be F'd over by Mitch McConnell day in and day out. If you want to beat the pig, (I'm talking about you Trump) you have to be willing to wallow in the mud with him and get dirty. I'm sick of every time we take one step forward, we have to take one giant step backwards due to assholes like McConnell, Trump and Nunez, and we continue to let them get away with it. I'm done with being NICE. I'm done with being Honorable. When you go to war with a pig, you should expect to get dirty. So bring it. If Mitch McConnell has taught me anything over the past few years, it's that, "taking back the House and the Senate is not child's play." We are never going to win, and thus, be in a position to move our own agenda, if we continue to play nice with McConnell while he continues to kick sand in our faced every chance he gets. Then we have to be prepared to punch back and if we're too polite (or scared) to do so, than we deserve what we already have; NOTHING but McConnell's contempt.

Also, I agree with Donny Deutsch. We have to brand the other guy, before he can brand us. Trump is great at branding us as Dems and what do we do in return, NOTHING. We now have Low IQ Joe leading in the polls as our presidential candidate, and it will stick if we are unwilling to, or don't want to strike back.

been champions for us and the American people for many years. But because we are in a significant crisis mode. Decency and fair play does not work right now. If you agree, jump on board. If you want to stay the course, step aside.

If not, either way, stay or go, hire a team of experts... political savvy, IT, legal (governmental and criminal), creative Hollywood and NYC types with money and go away for how ever long it takes to figure out the VERY best way to impeach and or beat this scourge MF. Develop a media plan. Meet with Dems. All get on the same page. We can not survive if he gets in in 2020.

Trump protecting him and doing his bidding. McConnell is much more intelligent than Trump and i think he looks down his nose in scorn at Trump. No law in the US gets passed without the approval of the dickhead as Lawrence Tribe describes him. Trump knows dick head is smarter than he is and he rarely crosses him. There are other dangerous men in Trump's circle but they are pretty much invisible. But McConnell glories in the limelight.

And I suspect Speaker Pelosi is waiting for the correct time to start proceedings. One thing I’ve learned in my years in politics and life, timing is everything. The impeachment show needs to be raging in the middle of the 2020 general election. That will be the time to invest in popcorn stocks.

Start the impeachment inquiry this summer, and include Trump, Pence, Bar, and Mnuchin. Hold televised hearings through the fall. Make each witness and the information revealed a weekly "episode" in the Celebrity Impeachment series, with a juicy cliffhanger and subsequent reveal. Keep the hearings up until the whole country demands impeachment. Take a brief pause between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some time in late January or early February of 2020, send the articles to the Senate such that they either remove all four, or Republicans' tolerance of blatant corruption and anti-Americanism becomes THE issue for the 2020 election, tied to each and every one of them like a boat anchor.

That way, we would take the Presidency and Senate, while keeping a House full of Democratic fighters who could show their constituents that they stood up for the Republic when it counted.

If they don't feel like calling them impeachment hearings, they can call it the Russian Interference Investigation or whatever. Trump's crimes should see the light of day. The public has the right to know what laws the President has broken.

This'll stick it to the GOP senators. Let them publicly try to defend continuing to let Russia hack our election by not impeaching Trump for dereliction of duty.

Start this line of impeachment right now. NOW.
