Black guy commits a horrific crime......."Just another example of a violent black person...no surprise"

Undocumented/Illegal/Whatever Immigrant commits a horrific crime........"Here we go again. Keep these people out!"

Muslim commits a horrific crime.........."Haven't we had enough? 'They' just don't belong here."

White guy (like me) commits a horrific crime........" Hey, now. We can't paint all white guys with the same broad brush. That just isn't reasonable. Most of them are really good people. It would be silly to blame all of them for the actions of one individual."

For the most part, women pretty much are 'hysterical', and can't control their emotions.

I kid, I kid.

I absolutely should have included that stereotype also.

I didn't think to, because for the most part, it's not women that are out there shooting up workplaces, or schools, or concerts, or anyplace.

Majority of mass murderers & serial killers happen to be white. The issue here of course has nothing to do with race or ethnicity, rather it was the action of a disturbed individual in need of help. That and the fact the availability of guns contributed to enabling this man to cause such violence.

Right wing stereotypes, disturbed individuals in need of help, availability of guns.....we've got a full plate.

Fortunately we're part of a community that can actually discuss each, and any, of those issues without losing sight of the others.

What a mess - the 'it could be worse' meme disgusts me. Twelve dead- four critical - worse than what for those families?

The GOP has been selling its lack of empathy value to us for decades now. We accept thousands of gun deaths and always say it could be worse. We need to regulate guns to get out of this hell.To quote Tina Turner

Out of the ruins, out from the wreckage
Can't make the same mistakes this time
And I wonder when we are ever gonna change?
Living under the fear, till nothing else remains
We don't need another hero,
We don't need to know the way home
All we want is life beyond the Thunderdome
