Trump Has Ceded the Middle

May 31, 2019 at 10:11 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Charlie Cook: “The age-old debate over whether it is better to nominate a candidate who can motivate the party base or one who reaches into the middle, appealing to independent and other swing voters, is presenting a choice of walking or chewing gum—you have to do both. Where these things come into conflict is that the issues that most motivate the base, whether within the Democratic Party or the Republican Party, are often ones that grate on the nonideological, or at least less ideology-driven, voters in the middle.”

“Trump has clearly picked the base-motivation model, effectively conceding the middle ground to Democrats—if they choose to take it.”

1. Red Don did worse than rMoney in 2016, without Russia's help he wouldn't have gotten over the hump

... in the republicans VSM states.

There's no turnout model for the MAGA cult base so he'll be getting help from Russia again

discussion from a Poly Sci Class back in the Stone Age. 80% of the Populace is evenly divided between Dems and Rethugs, now saying that,it is the Canditate's Party to capture more than 10% of the Independent or,what is called the undecided middle in order to win.

Now,that only works if you get your people to the polls and vote. Which we have observed in the 2010,2012,2014,and of course 2016. As someone who has worked many a campaign,I did my best to motivate Registered Dems to get out and vote, but, hoping they show up,well that is another story.

But,we have seen this to a small extent for the last six or seven cycles. Key being the failed 13 State Strategy of Rahmn Emanuel as well as some mush mouth messaging .

It is all about the message and a Candidate that relates to his or her Parties Voters. 2016 was a one off,the Managers could have saved it had they listened to the Door Knockers and Phone Workers.

'reminding' some Dems that traitortrump is the most important target. The Dems also have some easy targets that the 'cons are already exploiting to motivate anger to 'con advantage.
