VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - A man who harassed an interracial couple at a bar on Mother's Day is facing a hate crime charge for the fight he started, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

The victim, who is black, was having drinks at Tailgatorz Sports Bar & Grill on Mother's Day with his wife, who is white, when Warren Stratton approached and asked the man if he was from Africa and whether it was "Africa Day," the report said.

Deputies said Stratton continued staring at the couple and making racial comments then said he was, "just looking for a piece of (expletive)," in reference to the victim's wife.

The victim stood up and told Warren to move along. The argument turned physical when Stratton pushed the victim, according to the affidavit.

Edgewater, FL – Two men could face hate crime charges after a Mother’s Day fight against a black male in an Edgewater bar.

Both 66-year-old Warren Stratton and his nephew, 52-year-old Troy Noe were originally arrested back on May 13th for battery.

But, court documents show that both men now face prejudice battery charges following a fight against a black male back on Mother’s Day (May 12th).

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the victim said that he was celebrating Mother’s Day with his wife, who is white, at Tailgators Bar & Grille when he was approached by Stratton.

Stratton asked the victim if he was from Africa and if it was “Africa Day” because of his African American decent.

The victim told Stratton to keep moving and went about his business. Stratton then asked a second time, but still got the same response from the victim.

He continued to stand there, so the victim asked him if there was a problem to which Stratton responded, “I’m just looking for a piece of ass,” in reference to the victim’s wife, according to the report.

But, while they were separating Stratton and the victim, Noe sees the altercation and comes from around the corner of the bar and struck the victim and one of the witnesses in the face.

That’s when deputies said Troy Noe came in punching at the victim and a fight started.

The wife told deputies Noe called her husband "a (n-word) and her a (n-word) lover.”

Other witnesses said Stratton was also, "using racial slurs like (n-word) and (again asking), ‘Where are you from, Africa?’”

No one answered at Noe's $900,000 home. There was a large fence around Stratton's house with a sign outside reading "Low Line Cracker."

I do have a college degree, and I am fine financially, but I found that post very demeaning to those who did not go to college. I have known blue collar, no college people who have saved, worked hard, made good decisions who retire with quite a good nest egg.

9. Bars. I tend to stay away from them, generally.

Especially sports bars. Especially at night. You get a bunch of sports fans all tanked up on whatever they're drinking, and someone's bound to take offense at something and want to start a fight with someone else.

Or some guy is harboring some sort of bigotry and gets set off by something and forgets his fucking manners. Stupidity ensues.
