Something else to consider. Mueller's voluntary statement today is in the context

of Trump and Barr's attacks on the intelligence agencies and Mueller and the Russia investigation.

Now comes Mueller to say how serious the Russia interference was, and how important the investigation.

I am sure he will strongly defend the agencies and the investigation if he has to.

2. The recent accelerated attacks on the investigation may have motivated his speaking out now

Considering how Trump and Barr and the Fox/rightwingers have mischaracterized his report and ignored the Russian interference while instead threatening punishment of the investigators as if the investigators were treasonous, it's not surprising that Mueller finally decided to speak out publicly.

3. Right, that's what I'm thinking. Trump/Barr have been trying to convince people

of Nadler's committee wanting him to testify publicly and Mueller saying that he would limit it to an opening statement.

It appears that he just gave the statement and decided that was the totality of his testimony.

6. That was the totality of his voluntary testimony. Now it is up to the House

to decide if and when they will subpoena him. Maybe it would be better to wait till it could happen in the context of an impeachment investigation? I don't know.
