Mueller fallout deepens Senate tensions

The fallout from special counsel Robert Mueller's probe is deepening fracture lines in the Senate.

Tensions spiked during the Judiciary Committee’s questioning of Attorney General William Barr, marking the latest point of frustration on the high-profile panel.

Republicans accused Democrats of giving Trump’s AG the “Kavanaugh treatment,” while Democrats returned fire by suggesting the GOP was chasing conspiracy theories with its plan to probe “spying” and the handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), asked about the tone of the hearing, argued that Democrats are out to destroy anything related to Trump, as part of a revenge plot for losing the 2016 election.

“I said, ‘Listen guys, [Eric] Holder came, [Loretta] Lynch came, nothing was like this.’ It’s a character assassination of the attorney general,” Graham told radio host Mark Levin, referring to former President Obama's attorneys general. “Trump has created a new standard for Democrats: As long as you’re trying to get him, nothing else really matters.”

With regard to the contentious hearing, Graham added that he had “never seen anything like it” and that he sat in the room questioning “what has happened to the United States Senate.”

… if Kavanaugh and Barr can't take tough questions and tell the truth, they should not be in those positions.

During the Justice Boof confirmation hearings, Ford faced down the Senate Republicans' hired guns to testify. Now AG Barr can't possibly be expected to answer questions from the lawyers for the House Oversight Committee, because he's such a delicate specimen.

Not for the last time, I'm sure, but fuck you, Lindsey.

'Kavenaugh treatment' is pithy, sharp and oft repeated.

Note Dem response: 'while Democrats returned fire by suggesting the GOP was chasing conspiracy theories with its plan to probe 'spying' . . .'

[Some blame media, but Dems got to help themselves. 'cons consistently win the more easily understood label game].

Unfortunately, the dems conceded the narrative to the right decades ago.

Trickle down economics. Cadillac queens. Those are decades old right wing memes that were never challenged by the left, that are still with us today. And a lot of people don't even consider if these sayings are accurate or not, cuz they've heard them so often they just take them for true.

Dem leadership should have read "Moral Politics" by Geroge Lakoff when it came out. They're far behind the 8-ball now.

Trickle down economics? It's really trickle ON economics!

Cadillac queens? Do you mean working families with children who haven't gotten a raise in 3 years, or do you mean corporations that make billions in profit & pay zero in income taxes? Tell me again, who the Cadillac queens are?

I'm not even a marketing type & I came up with that. Think what a sharp marketing team could do. This is the 21st century. The dems need a top-notch marketing department. Policy & politics are two different things. You can't make policy if you don't win at politics.

Seems that Dems tend to see themselves as smart, ethical human beings.

'cons seem to see themselves as 'getters'. [Simpler].
