claiming that Trump has the right to instruct advisers not to testify to Congress.
These Banana Republicans are making it up as they go along.
What the hell are they drinking over at The White House? Is there some potion in the water over there that causes people to lose their common sense. Emmet Flood is not an ignorant man. He knows better.

(34,661 posts)of the Smear and Denigrate Bob Mueller and his Team. As posted by someone earlier today, this is a PR Campaign to protect Barr and his Criminality from exposure and make Mueller and others the Criminals.
This will be a month long Propaganda Campaign run out of the White House.

(34,661 posts)Bill Maher loves to think he is important to the National Discussion when in reality he is a Satire Writer and not that good of a one. Oh,have you noticed how he burns his Associates who Shared Satire Writing through the years.
And to think,he and Oberman were Roomies back in the Day at Cornell.

(24,324 posts)But I will say a 'has-been.' Or rather, a never-was.
Just a self-important, pontificating gasbag whit the poorest timing of anyone who claims to be a comedian I have ever seen.
He laughs at his own jokes with a little smirk that says, "look at me look at me, I made a joke.'
Everything about him, to me, is a joke. Compare him with someone with real talent and honesty like Dave Letterman.. or even that other useless gas-bag. Jay Leno.

(34,661 posts)You described him as our Writer Friend has said on many occasions. Sorry I am such a poor writer or word smith. Dyslexia is a bitch and it Ebb's and Flows 24/7.

(6,917 posts)He's a never-was. He declared himself the leader of liberal thought but has always been a shallow, joke-writer. He's written some hilarious jokes, and occasionally reflected the current mood of liberal, Democrats.
But even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I understand pointing out the flaws of Democrats gives the appearance of balance. But he has axes to grind and looks to interject his "wisdom" to show off his knowledge, not interject at an appropriate time and place.
And I'm sure his next crusade will be how "the left" is just intolerant of his blathering, rather than his blathering is self-serving and tone-deaf.

(58,785 posts)We need to remember that political efforts matter as they affect the will of the electorate, but they only slow the legal. Millions watched this dick expose himself criminally.
As for Maher, he's what he is. He sells disaffection dressed up in highminded verbiage and of course does best in times of trouble when there's plenty of anxiety to feed off. Same techniques and much the same market as RT. A "co-opting leader" as Comey described Trump.

(58,785 posts)And more people are probably waking up all the time to the reality that it could happen here, but not if they say no. We just need 2020 to be a little bigger than 2018.
As for Hillary's lesson, fwiw, that wasn't a serious scenario. It was an attempt to get people leaning right to see what Trump and Russia did by asking them to imagine Democrats and China conspiring the same way. A mental exercise is all.

(525 posts)They will say anything. McConnell says we should respect the presidency yet he did anything but. Dems should stop obstructing Trump, while that was literally the Republican plan over the entire span of Obamas years.
They love to deny things they have said or done to drive you crazy. They know youll drive yourself insane trying to get an admission from them by giving examples, gathering proof etc.
They know youll keep wasting your time trying. The entire time they will do whatever they want and smear your name at the same time.

(58,785 posts)League of Nations. The purpose of the LON was to create peace and order through laws and treaties between nations who came together for agreement. Hitler used that order against them, kept signing agreements he had no intention of keeping, breaking them, delaying actions in Geneva, infiltrating neighboring nations and stealing elections to put Nazi sympathizers in, ... Wash, rinse, repeat.
Our situation is extremely different, but same people and so many similarities. Today's Republicans with their pervasive RW extremism, corruption to serve the wealthy, widespread election theft, ruthless breaking of laws, contempt for principles of democracy, etcetera, are giving clear signs they don't feel our nearly 250-year-old systems serve them and intend to replace them with RW authoritarian rule.

As Comey said earlier, he ... "eats your soul in small bites."
I wonder how deep inside of trump's voluminous gut Lindsay has descended. Barr is a huge bolus but will be excreted eventually.

Now he runs the Presidency that way.
He could easily run out the clock using this strategy. Assuming the clock is Jan 20, 2021.

So he can do whatever he wants without consequences.
Essentially Trump has made himself dictator and he will continue to increase and consolidate his power over the next year and a half before the election so that he will be able to control the outcome just like they do in other banana republics.
