...whatever it was called?
But, I imagine he has fashioned his presidency after his reality TV show? To watch him in front of his adoring fans, is like watching some stand-up comedian doing a WWE skit. Any day now, I expect him to come out with a watermelon and a large wooden hammer and smash it all over the audience, a la Gallagher, comedian from '70s and 80s.
There is nothing serious or presidential about the guy. If I were one of his supporters, I would be ashamed to say that I voted for him. But, they stand and cheer, anticipating his next move or slanderous comment. Nothing would please them more than see him break a chair over someone's head.
Ignorance will kill us all. Looking at the Trump crowds, there is enough to start a world-wide epidemic. They all laugh and have a good time. But, I wonder if many of those are not nervous laughs? A reflex to hide their true emotions? Surely they don't find it funny?

I had zero interest in his TV show... yet, I do thin the "character" he played is responsible for some of his appeal... not as much as the White Nationalist appeal, but there are people who don't watch the news and only know him from his show.
Not a single episode.
I was busy working and having a life.

(182,877 posts)I think it was the second season and suddenly here's Ivanka. Okay. She didn't say much. Then Jr showed up - when the camera cut to him my wife and I actually started laughing, he gives off a real dumbass feel. On boy was he stupid. He basically said "yeah Dad" and "What dad said". We stopped watching after that.
His campaign was definitely WWE. He played the heel (bad guy) AND good guy with some violence (demonstrators) mixed in. I'm sure that some of the demonstrators were staged. I saw one appearance in Rohde Island that was just too on cue to not be staged and the ease with which the demonstrator was removed stunk of a setup.
One last thing - yes this is how his show went. I've read several articles about how he clearly FIRED the wrong person and they had to re-edit the show to make his decision make any sense whatsoever.

(32,748 posts)I didn't hate Chump then like I do now, but it didn't take much intelligence to see how fake/false the premise was. There was never a point to who "won" or "lost" so it was all based on whim, presumably Chump's whim. Well what's the point? Who wants to watch that? It became clear to me that they already knew who would be the final "winner" by the end of the season and the episodes were edited to showcase Chump's favorites. Boring and stupid!
By the way, Chump never said anything interesting or insightful, he never gave any good business advice to the contestants on the episodes I saw. I *couldn't* understand how that show became a hit series.

(34,119 posts)I have never been able to stomach the man. Not his looks nor his manner nor his stupidity. His malignant narcissism has been apparent for years. He just skeezes me out, makes me nauseous and uncomfortable. I have never understood how anyone could watch, listen to or be around that creep.

(14,275 posts)It was my brother's favorite show. I have long considered my brother to be racist and deplorable. Knowing he was attracted to Trump since the The Art of the Deal was published was all I needed to permanently repel me from watching The Apprentice.
