But 2018 was a good year for Democrats in the Keystone State.
Gov. Tom Wolf and centrist Sen. Bob Casey, Jr., both Democrats, were reelected last year. Sen. Bernie Sanders aggressively campaigned for John Fetterman, Wolfs lieutenant governor, in Philadelphia.
On top of that, Pennsylvania Republicans lost three seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, and Democrats flipped 16 seats in the Pennsylvania legislature.
The bleeding hasnt stopped since then, Isenstadt and Otterbein report. In a special election this month, Democrats won a state Senate seat in a district that Trump carried in 2016. Nationally, it was the first such legislative seat that Democrats flipped this year, prompting grumbling among some Republicans that the state party did not invest enough in turning out voters.
Further, Trump isnt faring well in Pennsylvania polls: Isenstadt and Otterbein note that a Franklin & Marshall College poll, released in March, found that Trumps approval among registered Pennsylvania voters was only 34%.

OP
If he keeps unraveling at his current pace, he'll have NO message outside of his "base."

(58,681 posts)1. Many people fail to remember how slim Trump's margins were in 2016...
He 'won' by less than 100k votes across three traditionally blue states.
With some hard work, we can flip that pretty easily. Looks like PA is trending in the right direction. Was some good progress in MI and WI in '16 IIRC.
We can do this.

People have already seen their tax returns. They know what the Ryan Ayn Rand Tax Cuts did for them.
Add the Mueller report and ongoing investigations to that, and all we need to do is stand firm on a message that resonates with voters.
