Cyber war is an act of war, and we are under attack as I type this.
When will the CONSERVATIVE PRESS ask the kGOPb what they are going to do about it?
When will they ask MF45?

(32,046 posts)How do you want the U.S. to respond? Declare war? More useless sanctions? What?

(6,375 posts)Russia has been trying to get out from under sanctions for several years and this is their solution. If you mean "useless" because Republicans and this administration won't enforce them with any teeth, I agree. If you mean it because they don't put pressure on the sanctioned country - disagree.
IIRC, the Pearl Harbor attack was precipitated sanctions on Japan (fuel, gasoline, copper, some grains...) that were in response to their aggressive moves into other counties (Vietnam - then Indochina I think, and China). There were negotiating to get sanctions removed and were willing to give up everything except withdrawal to get it except their China gains. When they reached that impasse, they concluded war was inevitable so they went on the offense.
Obviously, there was a lot of things that led to Pearl Harbor but I do think there are some similarities to where we are today with Russia, including their aggressive moves into other countries.
For years, I've said that WWIII won't be fought with bullets and bombs but rather with 1's and 0's so I look at this as our Cyber PH.
We keep talking about what would happen if Trump was tested with a crisis - we don't have to wonder, we're seeing it.

(32,046 posts)Only war. I doubt the U.S. is willing to go to war to change Russian behavior. The Nazis killed 30 million Russians and Russia never surrendered (unlike western Europe ). I don't think sanctions, enforced or not enforced, will make them change.

He's clearly allowing the attacks to continue. Impeach on this and I don't see how even Rs can refute it.
The Mueller report is damning enough but the Senate Rs have been given enough cover by Barr to shirk their responsibility - impeaching on that will fail imo. Let that stand on it's own record while holding hearings on it to continue to tarnish the #TraitorInChief.
The real action is #Traitor's refusal to protect our democracy. That's well documented. Haspel, Coates, Wray, hell even Neilsen know he's actively blocked efforts to stop Russia. Bring them in under oath specifically on this question only. It's enough
