In 5 years, repubs can say they would have voted for impeachment

if only the democrats had done the right thing and started the impeachment process. And there wouldn't be a damn thing that could be said to dispute them. You can't condemn anyone over a vote that never happened. The blame will lie squarely on us for not holding trump accountable. I hope everyone takes into consideration how this will look in the history books.

However, I still believe that instead of immediately filing for impeachment THEN having hearings on impeachment, Democrats should immediately hold (Benghazi! and Whitewater! style) hearings on all allegations raised and investigated in the Mueller report, as well as hearings on the integrity of our elections systems, and a whole host of hot button issues. The House should be buzzing like a bee hive right up to, through, and beyond the next elections.

We don't have to, and shouldn't throw our principles away, but we have to accept that Republicans do not play by the rules at all, so we have to fight hard. When we didn't impeach Dubya, and naively trusted that they would play fair when we unilaterally took impeachment off the table, how did they respond? By spreading LIES about veteran and decorated hero John Kerry. Remember the purple band-aids? To us, that was offensive and beneath dignity, but to the majority of Americans, that was red-meat, reality-TV which stuck to Kerry like tar. If we don't fight with every tool that we have, we are going to lose our democracy.
