Do white-wingers harping about illegals getting benefits encourage them to come here?

We know it's bullshit, but what message are these migrants getting? It could be the only way some of them think they qualify for all kinds of benefits is because of alt-white types and Trump lying about it.

not that great for them.

Even some guy who has a cousin up here telling him he has a place to stay and a job gets screwed sometimes. It's always been that way. They are exploited by their own people and even relatives sometimes.

Some of these people are uneducated, but most aren't. Many speak English or see our people on tv translated for them. They hear they get SS, free medical care and food stamps if they get here.

There was some ridiculous meme that claimed some outrageous amount the illegals cost us every year. I can't remember the exact number, but I looked up what the estimate was of how many illegals were in the country and divided it and came up with $90,000 a year per illegal. If that's the deal, I'll renounce my citizenship, go to Mexico and try and sneak back in!

It’s more about white wingers not “getting benefits” they perceive immigrants are receiving. Of course both components of their racist belief are complete bullshit and they are never called out because wants to keep their base angry.

I'm pretty sure they don't come here for the benefits as much as they come here to help their kids have a chance at a better life and escape ...you know, gang violence, extortion and death.

are White and that they are not motivated by economic insecurity but by racial insecurities.

We have a 400+ year problem on this continent with race and White supremacy 240+ as a country with institutions set up to promote White Supremacy.

The sad reality is that while there are a very small number of Black people and even Latinos who jump aboard the racism and xenophobia train, the conductors of the train are White people.

If you are White and do not hold those beliefs then you should dismiss the blanket statement or welcome to the experience of people of color who have been judged as an entire population based in the actions of a very few.

and escape from violence. I bet the majority have no idea about benefits. Where would they be listening to white-wingers harping about them? Do you think American talk radio is broadcasted to Latin America in Spanish?

Your whole premise is absurd.

Even if that's not what's bringing them, it wouldn't hurt the alt-white to think it was.

9. Very few immigrants think they will get public benefits.

Benefits are the very last thing on the mind of immigrants coming to the United States. What motivates most of the current crop of immigrants from Central America is that there won't be people trying to kill them in the US. They also know that they have an opportunity to work and earn money, that we here understand is not enough to live on, but to people from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, it is a whole lot.

Migrants are a lot more savvy than people think. They know the risks of coming here, of getting through Mexico without being jailed, raped, robbed, held for ransom, or even killed. They way the risks against continuing to stay in their countries and come here because as bad as the US can be for an immigrant, it is better than the situation they are escaping.

feed everyone, if they want to. Of course our corporations operating there aren't concerned with that, and want to get the food to us and maximize their profits.

So my cheap producto de Mexico is maybe making many Mexicans need to come up here, take my job, and make me wait in line at the ER? So fix that shit and make them not want to come up here! That should be what the Trump worshippers would want.

However, since when has a conservative ever cared about working people, anywhere? Conservatives/Republicans only care about profit for the wealthiest people.

If we wanted to end undocumented immigration, we would take a two pronged approach 1. As you said, we work to make the lives of the people in Central America and Mexico better. You do that by ending the exploitation of labor by multinational corporations and the corruption of governments by same. 2. You go after people who hire undocumented workers and fine them in a MAJOR way or give them jail time.

We tend to focus on the immigrants coming here as the main problem without asking what conditions are like in their countries that would make them leave everything they know and risk everything to come to the US. I guess it is because we are so AWESOME that we don't really care.

The sad reality is that the US has been interfering with the governments and economies of Mexico and Central America since we became a nation, pretty much. Monroe was the 5th President of the US taking office in 1817, less than 30 years after the founding of the country. He claimed "the Americas" under the jurisdiction of the US basically saying to Europe that Mexico, Central America, and South America were our business. Literally we have sent US troops into the region since the 1800's to protect US businesses. We have toppled elected governments up to and including in the 2000's.

Trump is stupid at best and greedy and evil at worst. The rich people who back him do so because he keeps the situation as is. The non-rich who support him are stupid and racist.
