(2,785 posts)He didn't refuse to fire Mueller for them good of the country or even to save Trump from himself which is a talking point that some in the media have parroted.
No Don McGahn and all of the others that didn't do what Trump wanted them to do didn't do it for the sole reason of protecting their own asses.
McGahn may not have been willing to lie to Mueller, but I could see him not cooperating with the Democrat congress. If he doesn't lie he is still going to try to cover for Trump in some fashion bet on it. He enabled Trump by helping to pack the courts with as many rubber stamp Trump judges as possible.

(81,323 posts)That would be the Democratic Party.
NOT the "Democrat Party." There is no such thing as the "Democrat Party." Poor schmucks - I guess they never learned there's a difference between a noun ("Democrat" and an adjective ("Democratic" .
It's NOT the "Democrat Party."
Any more than it's a "Democrat Senator..."
Or a "Democrat Congressman..."
Or a "Democrat Governor..."
Or a "Democrat bill..."
Or a "Democrat candidate..."
Or a "Democrat voter..."
Or a "Democrat President" for that matter.
That's what the fucking republi-CONS do. THEY think they have the right to designate what our party's name is. It's an attempt to bully, to place oneself above one's opponent, to grab a position of implicit superiority. I name you. I decide what you're called.
And my response to that is NO FUCKING-DAMN WAY!
That's why I call the opposition "republi-CONS". Not only because all they offer is a CON JOB, but because, if they think they can decide what my party's name is, then that door swings BOTH ways, pal.

(15,719 posts)Here is something from Wikipedia I did not know:
In September 2011, Flynn was promoted to Lieutenant General and assigned as assistant director of national intelligence in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. On April 17, 2012, President Barack Obama nominated Flynn to be the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.[28][29] Flynn took command of the DIA in July 2012.[30] He simultaneously became commander of the Joint Functional Component Command for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, and chair of the Military Intelligence Board.
In October 2012, Flynn announced plans to release his paper "VISION2020: Accelerating Change Through Integration", a look at changes he believes are necessary for the DIA in the future.[31][32]
In June 2013, Michael Flynn became the first U.S. officer to be allowed inside the Russian military intelligence (GRU) headquarters in Moscow, where he arrived at the invitation of the GRU chief Gen Igor Sergun.[33][34] His follow-up trip to visit the GRU HQ as Director of DIA was not allowed.[34]
Stefan Halper, who worked for three Republican presidents and was a longtime informant for the American intelligence community, had a February 2014 encounter with Flynn at a London intelligence conference. Harper became so alarmed by Flynns close association with a Russian woman that a Halper associate expressed concerns to American authorities that Flynn may have been compromised by Russian intelligence. Flynn was forced out of the DIA six months later, although public accounts at the time cited other reasons for his removal, including his management style and views on Islam. Halper was later a central figure in Spygate, a conspiracy theory initiated by President Donald Trump that asserted the FBI had planted a spy in his 2016 campaign.[35]

(32,645 posts)He was working in the White House in order to get as many RWNJs into judicial robes as possible. Including 2 in SCOTUS bench robes. Once Boofer-Boy got sworn in, there was no need for McGahn any more. He resigned within a week or two after that.
McGahn is a RWNJ but I don't believe he would lie under oath.

(51,611 posts)will that give them enough info to begin an official impeachment probe, leading to televised hearings and then finally a vote? We need to get this thing moving.

(81,323 posts)I HOPE we get some truth. If Don McGahn really is a "real lawyer," then he should know enough about what constitutes perjury and what doesn't. And if he testifies before Congress, he does so under oath.

(16,743 posts)different than what has already been stated? We're wasting time with additional hearings. And missing the opportunity Mueller laid out if impeachment doesn't happen real soon. I was struck by Nadlers very hesitant response regarding impeachment on MTP. I love my party but they need assertiveness training from GOP consultants. I'm weary of being nice.
