The SC and LGBT Worker rights.

The argument that in 1965 no one was thinking about LGBT rights "so how could the 1965 Civil Rights Act possibly include LGBT individuals" is offensive and wrong on its face.

Essentially, those opposed to including the LGBT community is this: Back in 1965 there was so much discrimination against LGBT individuals that they lived their lives in the closet out of fear of discovery and no one was speaking up and complaining about how terrible society made their lives. Because of that, in 2019 we don't have to give them any legal protection either, so there!

Sadly, there are way too many who think we (GLBT) don't deserve equal rights or recognition, including some so-called liberals and progressives. They think any addition to the Civil Rights Act somehow diminishes it, especially the inclusion of GLBT equality. Of course, many of them are the same ones who erroneously think GLBT rights rose in a "meteoric" fashion, as if all the years prior to Stonewall GLBT didn't exist. Anti-GLBT discrimination is not protected on the Federal level, but there are also several states which do not protect LGBT people in housing, employment, and other venues, in some states, even with protections, "religious rights" trump those of the GLBT.
