Grand Jury Evidence

Am I the only person on DU who understands what Barr and Trump are doing? All of the incriminating evidence against Trump and his campaign is in THE GRAND JURY REPORTS WHICH ARE REDACTED.

Bill Barr isn't going to release the grand jury information unless we impeach. Bill Barr will fight subpoenas up to the SC and by then it will be too late because it will be election time.

Am I the only person on DU who understands the importance of getting the grand jury information? The grand jury information can be used to impeach MF45.

Time is growing short, debates begin in 6 weeks. The hearings are not going to do shit without the release of the grand jury information. Even Mueller when subpoenaed won't be able to talk about what is in the grand jury information because it is redacted. Doing hearings behind closed doors will be a waste of time, something Democrats don't have much of left.

Impeach now before it is too late.

I'm beyond sick of the handwringing and hesitating.

Republicons will never do what is right. Ever. No need to wait and see.

... Impeachment process looks like it gives dems some prosecutor powers they don't have now. They can bring folk who stonewall up on charges and none of that round robin 5 minute bullshit 3. People need to see these fuckers answer for the shitness.

I've worked in IT for 30+ years, if people understood the level of penetration the Russians achieved into our state and local levels of voter systems there's no way we'd be sitting on the question of impeachment seeing Rudy G said this morning that it's OK to get help from Russia.

I'm disgusted

The Democratic party is dead if we fail to impeach and Trump wins a 2nd term because Democrats like me are going to say, I told you so.

They certainly tried to steal 2018. Gerrymandering, voter suppression, unverifiable machines. The "Blue Wave" was due to public disgust with the tRump mob. If Democrats fail to take the actions they were elected to do, that "Blue Wave" will be washed away by those same election-stealing methods.

Put the onus on Senate republicons for letting the criminals off the hook.

Starr went overboard and everyone knew it. The media turned the Clinton impeachment into a circus - and that was encouraged by Republicans. If we have hearings against Trump, they must be run in a sober and solemn manner. Questions should be well directed and our objectives clear. Let the Republican side look like they're obstructing a fair and reasonable process. Our side needs to be more like AOC in asking questions. Direct and controlled, no signs of trying to score points with the public with drama.

... and their parties politically.

I'm wanting to counter the false narrative that impeachment hurt republicans, it didn't. Impeachment hurt democrats in both instances of when a president was impeached.

I do a thread to emphasize the importance of the grand jury information and no one talks about it.

Barr stated that he would release grand jury testimony for impeachment proceedings, that's the only way we are going to get it. Subpoenas won't work.

and you are correct, that on here and in the media, the importance of the grand jury evidence is not being discussed.

It needs to be turned over to the House right now, followed by impeachment, beginning with Barr and tRump

The Nixon subpoena case was resolved in 3 months time, start to finish:

April 18, 1974: Subpoena issued with May 2 return date
Prior to May 2: Nixon makes partial "voluntary" disclosure and moves to quash subpoena.
May 13: District Court hears argument on motion to quash
May 20: District Court denies motion and orders Nixon to produce the subpoenaed material by May 31 but stays the order pending further review.
May 24: Nixon seeks review by the Court of Appeals, while the Special Prosecutor files a petition for certiorari for the Supreme Court to hear the case, bypassing the Court of Appeals.
June 15: The Supreme Court agrees to hear the case.
July 8: Supreme Court oral argument
July 24: Supreme Court decision.
