Our government’s ability to surveil citizens today far surpasses Big Brother’s in the novel.

I read the Homage to Catalonia and Down and Out in Paris and London last year after Anthony Bourdain passed. Read Kitchen Confidential again, too. Sad time to read three great books.

I was in my 40s. I got a sense of how young Joseph Heller was when he wrote it. His worked matured as time went on.

I got several other people to read it and they also reread it several times each. I loved anything that Joseph Heller wrote, but Catch 22 is my favorite. I don't know how many copies we had and lent out. Several

Glad you are reading it again!

I read a lot of Sci-fi. I'll have to check Cliff's Notes and see if it looks familiar One of my Favorites was The Stars My destination by Alfred Bester. I think its my all-time favorite. I'd love to see a movie. I thought Steve McQueen would be perfect. Now, Edward Norton.

I read Catcher in the Rye, wasn't crazy about it. I was in my 40s for that one.

Closing Time is a 1994 novel by Joseph Heller, written as a sequel to the popular Catch-22. It takes place in New York City in the 1990s, and revisits some characters of the original, including Yossarian, Milo Minderbinder and Chaplain Tappman.

It was a so-so read that didn't really engage me, but it did have its moments.

I would suggest purchasing Catch 22, but checking Closing Time out of the library.
