About that exchange between Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Sec. Kerry

This is that weird exchange where Massie tried to assert his own science credentials from MIT to dominate Kerry, and it backfired. I don't know why it took so long for me to see why I was so confused. I can put it in a simple sentence: Are our finest, most illustrious colleges and universities seriously failing in educating their own students regarding the danger we are in regarding climate change?

So not in any way related to the science of climatology, meteorology or really any Earth based science.

pseudo science? And, seriously, maybe it's time to add liberal arts classes that will help round out their education.

someone who is a climate scientist, enough to not ridiculously conflate the two. Either he is a complete fucking moron or he was being intentionally obtuse to play to his idiotic base. I just wanted to punch his fat face in.

6. Maybe you should look into MIT Course 12: Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Science

MIT has the science of climatology, meteorology, and earth-based science in that department.

https://eapsweb.mit.edu/

The Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) is the place at MIT where the turbulent oceans and atmosphere, the inaccessible depths of the inner Earth, distant planets, and the origins of life all come together under one intellectual roof.

9. M.I.T. is a whole lot more than just an engineering school.

You might want to take a quick look at all the majors they offer.

One of them is political science.

4. I think it was Massie, playing to his base.

Massie knows damn good & well the difference.
From wiki about the Ky4th..."The majority of voters live in the booming suburban Cincinnati counties of Boone, Kenton and Campbell, which includes such suburbs as Fort Mitchell, Covington, Florence, Newport, and Fort Thomas. It also stretches into the outer suburbs of Louisville (including a small portion of Louisville itself) and Lexington."

And while .most of that district is urban, Massie, I think, was trying to do a pure political Alpha wanna be move on Kerry. Swiftboating worked before on Kerry after all. By Kerrys response & his following tweets Kerry isn't looking for another office, so he's slamming back in GOP faces.
MIT is in Massachusetts, Massie is politically dick wagging, IMO.

8. I would look at how many fat contributions Massie gets from oil companies.

That's what this whole argument is about. Most scientists see the problem and want to do something about it, but the oil and gas industries have their own paid scientists who muddy the waters with their 'research.' If it wasn't for all the money the energy companies spend, we wouldn't know what the other 3% of scientists think about climate change. That money buys them a big platform to broadcast their counter-arguments.
