House Bill 896, introduced in the Texas House Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Committee, would remove the exception in the penal code for criminal homicide that applies to women and medical professionals and allow them to be charged with murder of an unborn child.
The measure would be a blanket ban on abortion procedures in the state, allowing the state to enforce the bill "regardless of any contrary federal law, executive order, or court decision." The landmark 1973 US Supreme Court decision in Roe v Wade affirmed the legality of a woman's right to have an abortion under the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution.

It's unlikely to go anywhere, but the fact that they're talking about this openly and advocating the killing of women is frightening as hell.
I feel like women have a target on their backs and more will be too frightened to even ask about abortion.

(16,847 posts)that you would consider it murder to kill a fetus. Thats why we should never allow them to get away with calling fetuses babies. A baby doesnt live in her mothers body.

(14,858 posts)Where do you think these people get the idea in the first place, that abortion is murder, and that women who obtain abortions are murderers? They learn it in their Christian churches, of course.

(11,477 posts)This makes me want to kick all men out and let us run things for awhile.
My younger daughter had an abortion 20 yrs ago it was a tough decision and I cant imagine killing her for it. She actually was the one who changed me, I was pro life and changed to pro choice because I couldnt live with the thought of calling it murder. It opened my eyes.
Sounds like these leaders need to wake up.
