When we talk about "the base" and what they want/expect of Trump...we usually talk about supporting white nationalists. That includes The Wall, deportations (of the "wrong kind" of people), more difficult asylum...all that stuff.
But I think they expect something else from him and this move to take DHS to the next level is part of it.
The Base expects Trump to persecute "libtards". This is their version of demanding reparations. For what ? All those years of forced PC where you couldn't call someone a n-word without everyone getting all up your chit. For those years where they made it illegal fo screw around with your secretary and fire her if she said no. For all those years where spending time going to school, studying, and getting a good education meant you would get a better job.
All that chit has created al much anger in The Base and it's time for Trump to pay it back.
Putting kids in cages has absolutely no impact on immigration - but it sure (appropriately) angers people who care about other humans (and that is one characteristic that differentiates The Base from "libtards).
IMHO of course.
