Are there any people here that remember Ramparts magazine?

My coming of age was back in the 60's and the challenge for me to understand and evaluate the world by what I saw firsthand and what the dominant media told me what was real. It was just as real an existential problem then as it is today.
I spent countless hours in church basement coffee houses trying to reconcile these conflicts. I spent many hours talking to people that had real face to face experience with what was going on in "French Indochina", sometimes referred to as Vietnam. One brief encounter with an issue of Ramparts solidified my perspective on the balance of powers and narrative control that supports the powerful at the expense of the weak.

I'm old, tired, and too stupid to pick up the torch of those truth tellers but we need to support those who are doing the same job today. We also have to be aware of the infiltration and subversion done to distort or marginalize conflicting perspectives.

Published in a time when Left groups were becoming more and more sectarian. It was good looking compared to the many "alternative" newspapers being published at the time.

Way back when, I had a summer job working for a government agency. One of the Commissioners subscribed to Ramparts and the subscription expired. I was given the task of contacting Ramparts and renewing the subscription. They're reaction when I called and said I was with the US Government was pretty darn funny.
