https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/kirstjen-nielsen-blindsided-over-ice-nominee-ronald-vitiellos-ouster

Top officials at the Department of Homeland Security, including Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, were caught off guard by the White House’s sudden move Thursday night to pull the nomination of Ronald Vitiello as head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to two sources who spoke with the Washington Examiner.

Nielsen, who has overseen DHS for 16 months, on Thursday was blindsided and called Vitiello after midnight for more information on what had happened, one source close to Vitiello said.

Vitiello got a call from a White House official Thursday night telling him he would not be traveling with President Trump and Nielsen to Southern California the following day because his nomination had just been rescinded.

I am admittedly a little woozy having been in bed with pneumonia for a few days now, but I misread the OP as Trump resigning, as opposed to Nielsen. My heart skipped a beat, and then I realized my mistake.

I'm glad the Wicked Witch of the Wall is resigning, but I so wish my original interpretation was correct.

And I believe deaths would follow if that happened, including of protesters, church leaders, journalists, etc.

Right now just with the power he has he wants to eject literally millions of brown-skinned people. DHS estimates 10 million, Pew around 10. But "deportations" are already including many naturalized citizens and birthright citizens accidentally caught up in it. Current plans are to imprison eventually hundreds of thousands, apparently mostly in desert prisons, while they're "processed," or whatever.

Of course there would be deaths. Care right now for children is tragically inadequate. They refuse to secure the safety of small groups of people who've arrived at the border after traveling 2000 miles. Trump resents aid to Puerto Rico, which is 70% white and almost all American citizens. Of course they wouldn't keep hundreds of thousands adequately.

people are saying, I don't know if it's true, but people are saying, Trump is pardoning Jerry Sandusky and will nominate him to head ICE. Republicans praise Trump for his choice and line up to kiss his sack.

...in the light of common day, recreated out of the worst of our human DNA.

I choose my own words carefully, but there are great swathes of my husband's immediate family that never made it out of Europe, including his father's first wife and their 4 children. The conditions that brought that about did not happen overnight.

A portion of the populace was full of resentment that could be stoked into hate; a portion of the populace went along because they were persuaded and followed orders; and the remainder of the populace, sickened and horrified by the daily assaults on truth and decency, were ultimately terrified into silence. (Does this sound at all familiar?)

My late mother in law, a Viennese who lived into her 90s in the US said, "No one could believe this could happen in Germany. It was a culture of art, music, and science."

We need to call what is happening by its proper name -- not in spite of historical context, but because of historical context.

BY PAULA REID, MAJOR GARRETT, ARDEN FARHI
UPDATED ON: APRIL 7, 2019 / 5:51 PM / CBS NEWS

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is expected to offer her resignation at a meeting at the White House on Sunday, U.S. officials familiar with the matter say. Nielsen was set to meet with President Trump at 5 p.m., the officials said.

Nielsen's expected departure is a part of a massive DHS overhaul engineered and directed by top Trump adviser Stephen Miller, according to a senior U.S. official. It's unclear whether Nielsen is deciding to resign voluntarily, or whether she has been pressured to resign. Nielsen has served as DHS secretary since December 2017, and questions about how much longer she might last have swirled for months, as the president continues to voice his frustrations over illegal immigration levels.

Nielsen's anticipated exit also comes after Mr. Trump announced that he wants to go in a "tougher" direction for Immigration and Customs Enforcement director, after originally announcing Ron Vitiello would head ICE ...

Bloomberg - April 7, 2019 8:41 AM

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump said the US is “full,” and can’t accommodate any more migrants from Latin America, capping a week of heated threats against Mexico over undocumented migration and the flow of illegal drugs.

“Our country is full. Our area is full. The sector is full,” Trump said at a briefing on border security in Calexico, California, on Friday. “Can’t take you anymore. I’m sorry, turn around, that’s the way it is” ...
