Even this pronouncement fails to grasp the nettle.

Since 10,000 BCE, human biomass has gone up about 200x. Wild animal biomass has gone down by about 95% over the same time. Domesticated animal biomass has increased by 20x in the last century.

If that is not a sign of human overgrowth on the planet, nothing is. But hey, getting rid of Republicans and educating women is going to fix it all. It may help the small picture, but it won't do squat for the big picture:

What kills me is that the issues we have now are NOT new or unique or unsolvable...they are INTENTIONAL.

George Carlin was another - albeit much more acerbic - voice among many that have become more rare...

like Sagan, Dr. Stephen Gould, George Carlin, John Candy, Gilda Radner, etc. And shitburgers like Limbaugh, Hannity, and the whole republican f*cking party survive by thriving on corruption and hate.

Still, I think there are some pockets in MSM that give us better real information. But money and power talk, VERY LOUDLY.

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge. Isaac Asimov

can be calculated and organized but by the broad assembly of that information in a way that allows one to see a picture of reality that few others can see. People like that give the rest of us a sense of the prophetic.
