https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/07/politics/democratic-positions-majority/index.html(CNN)When it comes to considering the top political issues facing the country -- immigration, health care and gun control among them -- politicians in Congress can give the impression that the public is hopelessly divided on policy solutions.
In reality, the polling shows the majority of the public usually backs policy positions preferred by the Democratic Party.
A new Gallup poll released Thursday showed that two-thirds of Americans said protecting the environment should be a higher priority than economic growth and only three-in-10 who said economic growth should be given priority, even if the environment suffers to some extent. This is the highest prioritizing of the environment since spring 2000.
Eight-in-10 Democrats and 71% of independents prioritize environmental protection, versus 35% of Republicans who said the same."
A lot more at the link above. I guess the majority of Americans aren't as dumb as trump and his gang think they are.

(10,437 posts)- quit the talking about illegal immigrants and talk about immigration policy and how best to handle our borders
- quit talking about outlawing guns but talk about keeping guns out of dangerous hands
- quit talking about a "green revolution" but talk about a viable environmental policy for our kids and grand kids to flourish
- quit talking about "anti-abortion" , talk about FREEDOM for individuals and personal choices, applies to gay rights too. ALWAYS talk about FREEDOM

(19,479 posts)In 1980, Americans agreed with Jimmy Carter on the issues, but they voted for Reagan. They didn't know which candidate took which position; their voting was based on nebulous stuff having to do with the contrasting media images of the two men.

(11,495 posts)Is the town halls like CNN has had, and will have more. This Wednesday they will have Jay Inslee on. I think these town halls are helping people to get to know who is running, and what they are running on, and that's what needs to happen, motivate the people and get the message out that Democrats are the ones who will help the people once they get elected. All Democratic candidates, local, state, or federal should talk about the issues.
