Why isn't this at the top of the, "you have to be shitting me" list in the M$M.
The Uranium One nothingburger still gets more attention.
I thought that it was a nonpartisan position that we, the United States, was behind the non-proliferation of nuclear technology. It turns out that people in the Trump administration were working on selling nuclear technology to SA even before Trump took office. Rick Gates, Tom Barrack and Michael Flynn were all in on this deal.
Can you imagine what Trump will personally demand from SA for giving them nuclear bombs?
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry has approved six secret authorizations by companies to sell nuclear power technology and assistance to Saudi Arabia, according to a copy of a document seen by Reuters on Wednesday.

Many U.S. lawmakers are concerned that sharing nuclear technology with Saudi Arabia could eventually lead to a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told CBS last year that the kingdom would develop nuclear weapons if its rival Iran did. In addition, the kingdom has occasionally pushed back against agreeing to U.S. standards that would block two paths to potentially making fissile material for nuclear weapons clandestinely: enriching uranium and reprocessing spent fuel.

Representative Brad Sherman, a Democrat, called on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during a congressional hearing on Wednesday to release the names of the companies that got the approvals by the middle of April, and Pompeo said he would look into it. Sherman also said the Trump administration had attempted to evade Congress on sharing nuclear power with the kingdom.

(4,373 posts)I have no problem selling nuclear technology to Sweden or Switzerland. I have a problem selling nuclear technology to a leader of a country who murdered a WaPo journalist at an embassy. To a leader who refuses to agree that he won't use that technology to build nuclear bombs. If I were president I wouldn't sell SA a sling shot. SA IMO is the #1 sponsor of terrorism, it has madrassas all over the world. There is no doubt that people in the Saudi government were behind 9/11.
I will never understand why America supports SA. I would be sanctioning them. I see that Congress has finally voted to stop supporting SA in its war with Yemen. Trump will undoubtedly veto the bill and we will go on supporting SA.
