Merkel is SO sharp. She slaps Trump in the face twice, and Trump can't admit he knows it.

As Chancellor of Germany, her time is obviously limited. Visiting heads of state get maybe half an hour if it's a small country, a full hour if they are NATO partners or major trading partners.

She just met with "her friend," private citizen Barack Obama, yesterday for an hour and a half. A Merkel spokeman told the press that this was in no way intended as an insult to Trump. I can't think of a more blatant lie by a German government spokesman since 1945, but I forgive them in this case.

It has also been announced that she has accepted an invitation to speak at Harvard's commencement ceremony. While she will be in Boston, there are "no plans" for her to make the one hour flight down to Washington to see Trump. The Westdeutsche Zeitung, the newspaper I was reading, dryly commented that she and Trump didn't have much to say to each other anyway, especially considering that Pence and Pompeo were here in Europe at the NATO 70th anniversary fête, dissing--who else?--Germany.

all over the world. He can hold an intelligent conversation, is respectful and handsome. tRump is exactly the opposite. No leader worth their salt has any respect for the Orange Ass. Unlike his followers, they see him for exactly what he is - a con artist with no substance, morals or ethics.

They still can’t get over that a black man was elected President twice!

But, please don’t mention that Barack not only won the electoral vote, but the popular vote...TWICE!

That tends to piss off the trump crowd even more.

Former FLOTUSes (FLOTI?) and former chefs have written about it.

Altho all write in praise of the output rather than the equipment, I am quite certain they have all the standard stuff any of us would rent if we had a big party, including heat lamps. When it came to Trump's fast food stunt ("Oh, what a brave resourceful boy am I!" ) the lack of any attempt to keep that crap hot was particularly galling in my eyes.

Based on what we have seen and heard about the Trump kitchen, I surmise the best chefs and cook-staff have long since departed in horror.

Several years in a row at the White House Christmas party (ended with Obama, alas), and I looked forward to that one day per year of gluttony with great anticipation.

If the same people are still there, I can't imagine their frustration. From master chef to master thumb-twiddler?

GOTCHA! There is no defense of Trump and his actions. Ever. Trump couldn't talk to Angela Merkel for more than five minutes. He can't talk to anyone for more than five minutes because he has the attention span of a gnat on crystal meth. After four minutes he resorts to things like "pull my finger", and "knock-knock" jokes. He's the most ignorant president (if not human being) in history, and resorts to endless lies in an attempt to bridge his knowledge gap. However, that ruse only works on his braid-dead cult.

Then there's president Obama, who is probably one of the (if not the ) most intelligent presidents this country has ever had. Obama and Trump are polar opposites, with the Obama being the positive pole.

It was a volunteered statement by a government spokesman, maybe in anticipation of the notion being brought up. They are, after all, familiar with their own protocol. This is not the Trump State Department.

It's not as if they would had much to say to each other.

Trump: "We're not letting your cars in, and you don't pay enough for your defense."

Merkel: "You sent us an ambassador who promotes right wing causes in my country. Danke. Auf wiedersehen."

She doesn't need to fly to Washington for that.
