"The most competent authoritarian politician in the national government doesn't work in the White House. He runs the majority of the United States Senate. He wants what he wants and he gets what he wants and he has degraded the Senate's primary function as a considered institution of democratic government. He has the same relationship to the truth as does the president* he serves. He is utterly free of shame. He is utterly free of patriotism in any recognizable form. Mitch McConnell belongs in some black-and-white video of East Germany from 1962."

(5,106 posts)He even boasts about it. Remember his priority in 2009: making Obama a one term president? More important to him than doing the job he was elected to do, even in his own obstructionist ( to the Democratic party) way.

(6,254 posts)McConnell is even hated by many Republicans but he is probably the most effectively evil Senate leader of my lifetime. The man has no redeeming qualities. I cannot say one good thing about him. Apparently his adult kids hate him. Also, Harry Ried apparently bedded his first wife which accounted for the extreme animosity between him and McTurtle. Apparently old Harry was quite a ladies man and has the equipment to back it up. Must have killed little Mitch.

(5,106 posts)I hadn't heard that before. Thanks; must find out more. I'm really not all that surprised that Harry (who'd been a boxer and probably kept in shape). I've always wondered what could have attracted Mitch's second wife: super rich, younger and attractive. It must be an evil meeting of minds.

It's all been a lie since inception. Democracy has been the placebo in a controlled test. Capitalism is the real drug and it's efficacy has been proven.
Everyone has a price they say and it looks like someone has determined the price of the entire gop. And mitch has shown himself to be the perfect bag man.

(4,037 posts)but when a Democrat pushes the limits, they go nuts. And yet, they dont care. The hypocrisy is right out there in the open, and they dont give a crap who recognizes it. Shame gave way to greed and corruption years ago.

(4,723 posts)The Republicans have an agenda: funnel as much wealth as possible to the very people who need that wealth the least. To get this, they tap into the fears, prejudices and hatreds of conservative Americans. Any threat to that funneling process is shut down or at least violently attacked.

(3,011 posts)Also, how many times has McConnell closed down discussion on Republican ideas just because Obama supported them. It's never been about principles. It's about winning.

I swear, when this fucker goes to prison I hope he gets a ground floor cell with a window, so I can tape a #merrickgarland sigh to the other side of it.
That the news isn't calling this the peak of guilt-ridden projection (that's exactly what it is,he knows what a dick he is) tells me a lot about how scared they are of the gops 'base'...
maddiemom
(5,106 posts)he's PROUD of it. Trump is the champion of projection; Mitch just uses it as one more weapon in his arsenal. I seriously doubt that he has an ounce of guilt in him.
