(CNN) — A 67-year-old man died after falling over the edge of the Grand Canyon, bringing the number to three deaths at the popular tourist destination in the past eight days.

The visitor fell Wednesday near the Yavapai Geology Museum, which is on the South Rim in Grand Canyon Village, according to the National Park Service.

Grand Canyon National Park rangers responded and found the man's body about 400 feet below the rim. Helicopter and technical rescue teams recovered the body and park service officials are investigating.

Last week, two people died while visiting the canyon.

But, I’ve been there and there is no shortage of signs, placards, etc. warning people not to venture over the fences and near the edge of the rim. Maybe he didn’t, but I saw numerous people, mostly younger, doing just that.

Signs, brochures and verbal warnings are used there. People will still stray from the boardwalks to stroll out on the crust near boiling hot pools of water or mud pots. They will approach moose, elk and bison for a better picture or to touch the animal. Even animals in an obvious agitated state have been approached. (Saw that with my own eyes.) I don’t know what part of Do Not Feed or Approach the wildlife they fail to understand. I have no idea why a grown person walks out on ground that is impossible to know if it is stable, hot or covering a geyser. But they do it every year, often at their own peril. I guess they could try barbed wire. But they’d probably still try to climb over it. 😳 👀 😖
