Trump supporters in Hawaii

So we are in Hawaii. We decided to take a walk after breakfast. So then we decided to take a break at a picnic bench under the lovely trees. Beautiful weather and we were in a great mood. Well, this lady plops down at the table with us. We were like ooookay. So she asks if we would like to join their walking group and we were like no...We told her that we had been hiking all week and wanted to relax our final two days. So simple small talk like that. Well, then the leader of their walking group pops up. He sits down. Out of nowhere he started talking about taxes and immigration. Ranting about how he was tired of paying taxes to support them. Then he started talking about the demographic shifts. Oh and the lady chimes in that thousands were flooding the border in the south. 🙄 Then he says if you complain about it people call you names. Keep in mind we are middle aged African American couple. I could literally feel my blood pressure rising (dr is currently trying different meds to keep it under control) I wanted to tell him to STFU. You think he would get a clue when we did not say a word. I could tell my husband was about to go all the way off on those senior citizens so I popped up. Told the lady that was nice meeting her but we needed to go souvenir shopping. lol My husband told me that I must of sensed that he was about to go all the way off on that man. lol Anyway, we decided to let it go because it is the final full day of our vacation. Not gonna let idiots like that ruin it. Funny how I was just telling my hubby yesterday how nice it was to be here to block out Trump and his nonsense out. I checked in here a few times but absolutely no sign of him our our tv so it has been wonderful..

I live in Napa now, but grew up there. I wish I could afford to retire there. For now, stuck in California.

I sure hope that they were just visitors, and not local people.

My memories of growing up there, no one gave a fig about who was republican or democratic. Politics seemed very far removed. Of course that was in the wild and crazy 70's.... we were having too much fun (sex, drugs and rock-n-roll era). Politics didn't really come up much. We hardly watched any TV (surfs up! Air is Sweet, who wants to be indoors?)

Today, most of my friends from there are liberal democrats. There are a couple exceptions. It is so difficult today, with them. I don't talk to them much. I just can't...

I hate this division, and I hate the trump administration and their sycophants.

What I hate the most is the fact that I now have hate in my heart. It shouldn't be this way!

Here is what I Love: Mother Nature, Hawaii, my mom, my pets, my state, my Country.... I could type for the next 30 days with all of the things that I Love. But somehow, this Hate keeps creeping back in and ruins my day.

I'm glad you didn't let them ruin your last day in Hawaii. There is much too much to love there.

Hawaii was an independent kingdom for centuries -- until the late 18th century when the islands were invaded by colonists, missionaries, and traders. All desired to control the raw materials and the land. Slowly they increased the pressure on the monarchy until they overthrew the Queen at the turn of the century and the U.S. laid claim on the chain of islands. WE were the IMMIGRANTS that took control of Hawaii.

The Queen's people were threatened by (business men) with ships that had cannon. She believed that the U.S. Law would support her sovereignty and offered herself up to prevent harm to her people. She was right about the law, but wrong about corrupt politics. Even back then. So wrong, so sad.
