(21,639 posts)I stayed at the Cypress Inn, her hotel in Carmel, with my Basset a few years ago.
Classic, beautiful, well-maintained, and very pet-friendly - just like Ms. Day herself.

(6,229 posts)the hotel?
sandensea
(21,639 posts)She bought it in the '90s sometime, renovated it, and converted it into a pet-friendly inn - while losing none of its 1920s, Spanish Colonial Revival charm.

The photos don't do it - or Carmel - justice.
Very well-run, and, despite, the number of pets on any given day, very clean. Suffice it to say, the restaurant has menus for you and your pooch. Very healthy options.
Unfortunately, my Basset (he's since passed away) got very loud around other dogs - and with that deep Basset bellow of theirs! But the staff is very accommodating. The others guests, that depends.
It's been a few years. I should go back sometime.
Thanks for sharing this, I didn't know she had a hotel and especially nice they allow pets!

(21,639 posts)As Doris Day put it, it's the hotel "where people are also welcome."

(18,636 posts)She was pretty old when I was a kid, and I'm on Social Security. While I might assume her squeaky clean lifestyle led to her long and healthy life, Keith Richards chuckles from the sidelines.
I imagine she sold a lot of Chevys back then with the "See the USA in your Chevrolet" jingle. Indeed, I remember those commercials more than her movies.
Happy B'day DD.

(18,636 posts)Dinah Shore was pretty shady compared to Doris Day. haha
I don't know how I mixed them up.

(1,115 posts)She popped up on my OTD.
So I searched for her because I miss her. I thought no one else
would remember that dear person. She is special. Yes, and Dinah.
BTW, I checked DU earlier. and thought, oh shucks.
