for Congress. He has been a moderate liberal his entire career, and has served his constituents well. BUT...
...you knew it was coming...
He is not a great thinker. Republican Senators are downright stupid, but we Democrats look for more in our Senators.
When I think of Democratic Senators, I think of intellectuals like Elizabeth Warren, Al Franken, Amy Klobuchar, Martin Heinrich, Paul Wellstone, etc.
What was Lujan’s profession before he ran for office? He was a blackjack dealer. He won his first race because his father was Speaker of the House of the New Mexico State House of Representatives. Lujan’s father was a well-loved Representative of the same district that Lujan, jr. was running in. The distict’s love for Lujan, sr. spilled over for jr.
I know that Congressman Lujan will win the Democratic primary, and because of his political clout, will crush all primary challengers, but Lordy, I wish an intellectually excellent candidate could emerge in this race, and that Lujan would remain in his current position and would continue to do a great job in that capacity.
