It's bad enough that they maneuvered the resignation of Al Franken.
Does anyone remember that less than 2 months ago, there were voices screaming for the resignations of VA governor Northam and VA Lt. Gov Justin Fairfax? Man, the both of them, or just one of them (take yer pick, resignation of the month club!), but someone HAS to resign!! (Don't they?) And today? How many posts have we seen on here in the month of March demanding that one or both of them resign? Oh, yesterday's news? Wow, that cooled down fast, didn't it? Maybe not news (except Fox "News" ) to begin with?
And they think that after a few rounds of this, we're ready to indict Hillary for.....well, everyone has forgotten exactly what, but surely SOMEthing, and now Adam Schiff as well.
In short, if it is a Democrat, and they left their halo at home on any given morning, stir up a grand movement to get them to resign! Harry Truman once posed with an inaccurate newspaper headline! He should resign, too! Oh? He posed with the headline as a joke in 1948? He hasn't been president since January, 1953? Well, he should have resigned when he had the chance!
Sorry, Republicans. Yeah, we're a little slow on the uptake every now and then, but we usually figure out what you're up to. Just because we don't think you can sink any lower, that doesn't mean we discount the possibility altogether.
And while I'm on the subject, forget trying to get Pete Buttegieg to resign because you "found out" he's gay. Maybe you missed it, but he's told everyone already. Maybe Falwell, Jr. and Franklin Graham will ultimately care. No one else does. No one else will.

(54,443 posts)If he is convinced that he won't get re-elected, he'll just declare, "I accomplished more in four years than FDR did in twelve. My work is done here," and talk himself into believing that to be true.
The lives of most Trumpanzees will improve as soon as the new Democratic president takes office, and they will manage to convince themselves that the opposite is true. "Yes, it took half the time and half the expense to get me employed and cure my illness, but now I have too much free time on my hands, and I sent my extra money to my megachurch, so I'm no better off than I was before!"

Put "Adam Schiff hearing" in the search engine. The one that's 3 1/2 hours long has the entire thing at the very beginning. It's about 12 minutes and it's amazing.

(54,443 posts)He'll never want to admit defeat at the polls, so if it looks like that is the probable scenario, he'll just declare "mission accomplished," declare that America is now great "again," and go home to whichever Bahamian Island has the loosest credit laws......

(54,443 posts)The Democratic Party already seems to have responded well to the hysteria about the Governor and Lt. Gov. of Virginia. Adam Schiff has wisely already inoculated himself with Republican-resistant antiresignotics. I only wish they had been around to preserve Al Franken's Senate seat.

(16,113 posts)He resigned because Dems were calling for it.
Benjamin or Roosevelt?
If you meant Al Franken, that is precisely what I meant. Democratic Senators fell for a Republican-instigated scam, and treated their "evidence" as if it were credible. As soon as Al was gone, his "accusers" also went silent or vanished in a puff of smoke completely. We and our Congresspeople HAVE to stop falling for this ruse.

(54,443 posts)I only met him after his stroke, when he was well into his seventies. He was pretty docile then. My brother worked for him during his fiery days, and said he was wild blood at the time, so accusations from that era are apparently harder to dismiss for those who knew him. On the other hand, those who know (and knew) Al Franken say such accusations are so completely out-of-character for Al as to be absurd to anyone who was personally familiar with him and Franni.
