Me too neither. I was listening to The Takeaway on NPR on my way in to work and it sure seems like everyone else has already read the report and has made up their minds about what's in there.

(47,602 posts)If you are part of the media, you feel compelled to speak, even when you have nothing to say. There's a whole lot of people just filling up space with meaningless, uninformed words.
The pundits are so useless. And it adds to the spread of misinformation.

(2,863 posts)It's not journalism, it's only gossip. I wanted to call in and ask if anyone on the show had actually read the report. Instead of a 'driveway moment' it was more of a 'scream at my radio moment while stuck in traffic'.

(47,602 posts)on MSNBC that I find encouraging is they bring on a lot of real experts - former prosecutors, state's attorneys, FBI agents, State Department officials, etc. These people are serious and well informed. They don't just talk to hear themselves speak, they really have something to say and it is based on years of solid experience.
Most of the pundits, however, are getting paid to stir things up and often create controversy where it may not exist. Of course, during the campaign season, it will get totally ridiculous.

(47,602 posts)In order to hold an audience with nonstop news, you have to keep creating issues where there aren't any, express opinions that are ill informed or controversial, and keep baiting people to prevent them from changing the channel. Too much of the news is entertainment. People have very short attention spans, so there are a lot teasers and "Breaking News" banners.
Like so many people, I fell into the news trap because of 9/11. Unfortunately some of the people I know ended up with their dial set at Fox News and once apolitical people often became brainwashed wing-nuts.

(54,770 posts)political junkies like us, watch FOX or MSNBC, do much more than vote (if that), . . . . . . Most people don't care about this anymore, even though they darn sure ought to care.
