So Trump signed a proclamation, recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

The rest of the world is either silent or disagrees.

What happens now?

Would Israel send settlers into the GH to build more housing? (I know Israel granted oil drilling rights to a company involving Dick Cheney recently in the GH.) Would Israel send the UN Peacekeepers home? What if the UN refused to cede?

Genie Energy Ltd. is an American energy company headquartered in Newark, New Jersey. It is a holding company comprising Genie Retail Energy, a retail energy provider in the United States, and Genie Oil and Gas, which pursued a conventional oil exploration project in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Genie was part of IDT Corporation but was spun off on October 31, 2011, at which point Class B common stock of Genie Energy Ltd. began trading on the NYSE under the ticker symbol "GNE".

Genie's founder, chairman, controlling shareholder and CEO is Howard Jonas. Avi Goldin serves as the company's CFO, Michael Stein is the company's COO and Geoffrey Rochwarger serves as Vice Chairman. The president of its Israeli subsidiary is Effie Eitam. Genie Energy's Strategic advisory board is composed of: Dick Cheney (former vice president of the United States), Rupert Murdoch (media mogul and chairman of News Corp), James Woolsey (former CIA director), Larry Summers (former head of the US Treasury), Bill Richardson, former Governor of New Mexico, an ex-ambassador to the United Nations and United States Energy Secretary, Michael Steinhardt, Jacob Rothschild, and Mary Landrieu, former United States Senator from Louisiana.

The Golan Heights and Genie Energy

Trump just gave “official recognition” of the Golan Heights as part of Israel. Netanyahu granted Genie Oil “drilling rights” in the Golan Heights in 2013, where over a billion barrels of oil are alleged to rest.

This has nothing to do with Trump or Netanyahu. This has to do with people with far more real power who are leveraging Trump's position to, and the oil they (my guess is chiefly Dick Cheney) want from the Golan Heights.

You can tell because Trump made this announcement right after being effectively immunized by the FBI. Genie Energy has the real power in this situation through the combination of media, cash, and US government connections, but Trump is the one with the leverage of the presidency, so they made their commitment first - there’s less at risk in their doing so, and they know a Democrat will probably beat him after all of the drama and instability he has caused, both politically and socially.

This happened right after he has been let off the hook because it's what Genie Energy wants from him. One of Cheney's chief puppets ane the author of his magnum opus, the Patriot Act, is now sitting on the supreme court, along with enough cynics and cowards (which ones, I'm not sure, but Gorsuch strikes me as spineless, Alito and Roberts are Bush appointees, and probably at least one more can be threatened into complying) to immunize him, and with a mere democratic house majority to contend with, there is not enough legislative intertia to put a stop to any of this.

to the Heights so I have no idea what they think they're accomplishing. That document meant absolutely NOTHING. Israel has been controlling the Heights since 1967. And NOBODY is going to tell them to return them to that disgusting butcher al assad. This is a done deal and anyone who doesn't like it is free to fight for Syria because nobody else gives a crap.
