Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer aren't satisfied with AG Bill Barr's readout of the Mueller report
Democratic leaders in the House and Senate are not satisfied with Attorney General Bill Barrs summary of special counsel Robert Muellers report.
Attorney General Barrs letter raises as many questions as it answers, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in a statement on Sunday, a few hours after Barrs letter was released.
Barr sent a four-page summary of the report to Congress on Sunday, after Muellers nearly two-year investigation concluded on Friday. As Voxs Andrew Prokop wrote, Barrs summary shows Mueller did not affirmatively find either collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, or obstruction of justice on the part of President Trump.
Democrats are zeroing in on the issue of obstruction of justice, because while Mueller concluded there wasnt enough evidence to go forward and prosecute President Donald Trump for obstructing justice, there also wasnt enough evidence to exonerate him.
The fact that Special Counsel Muellers report does not exonerate the president on a charge as serious as obstruction of justice demonstrates how urgent it is that the full report and underlying documentation be made public without any further delay, Pelosi and Schumer said in their statement.
