Sun-Sentinel cartoonist Chan Lowe on "Mitt Romney and the birthers"

See the 'toon at this link, too. I'm quoting some of what Lowe wrote to accompany the cartoon:

I’d like to think that some playful gremlin inhabits Mitt Romney’s TelePrompTer, because that would be the charitable way to regard his latest utterance.

Surely, it would be unfair, maybe even cruel, to accuse the almost-crowned Republican candidate for President of the United States of groveling to the troglodytic wing of his party—the handful of extremists who continue to promote the fallacy that President Obama was not born in this country.

No one who aspires to be the leader of the Free World could possibly be so craven, so desperate, so willing to abase whatever flimsy moral code he possesses—while shaming himself, his party and his country in the process.

No, even Mitt Romney, for all his flip-flops, his prevarications, his shadings of the truth, and his deliberate distortions of his opponent’s words is better man than that. At least, I fervently hope he is, because he could well be my president someday.
