(25,183 posts)First, another shadowy unnamed source, who could even be out there spewing misinformation to make sure that the Democratic majority in the House stays focused on impeachment, instead of the upcoming primary season. Second, whatever articles of impeachment the House sends to the Senate will be DOA, because Republicon Senators have just been given cover.
The straw-grasping is ferocious today.

(25,183 posts)It's the voters ability to multitask that I'm most concerned about. Every minute of TV time devoted to Trump-oriented hearings and investigations is a minute taken away from the eventual Democratic nominee.
Look how well Pete Buttigieg is doing with a bit of TV face time. Other than Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, most of the folks running are relative unknowns to the general public. TV time is a partial remedy for that.

(4,611 posts)Mueller might not be empowered to indict the president, but it's his fucking job to determine whether the president's actions are lawful or not. He fucking punted, bigly.

That's what Mueller intended to do -- but this time, there was a William Barr blocking him.
We won't know exactly what happened till the House brings Mueller there to testify.

(4,611 posts)First, Mueller's job was not to advise Congress, it was to pick up an ongoing FBI criminal investigation. The report is a summary of his findings and recommendations for the DOJ.
Second, Jaworski's grand jury outright drafted an indictment of Nixon. They pulled their punch at the last moment and instead submitted a report directly to Congress that was effectively a skeleton indictment. Meanwhile, they indicted and prosecuted everyone else who wasn't the president.
Mueller sounds like he took an "only the pope can judge a king" approach. He indicted no one in the administration and apparently tried to punt on everything related to them. That's a far cry from Jaworski (whose own decisions, incidentally, are not some kind of authoritative precedent.)

barr will lie, cheat, steal to ensure trump "wins."
BTW, am I the only one who believes barr looks like the character Norm on Cheers?
