Steny Hoyer to AIPAC: Accuse me of dual loyalty

Thanks for proving Omar right, congressman.

Hoyer, a longtime ally of Israel, came down squarely on the side of standing with Israel at a time when younger Democrats and some contenders for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination criticize Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rightward shift and his moves closer to President Trump and Republicans.

“I stand with Israel, proudly and unapologetically. So, when someone accuses American supporters of Israel of dual loyalty, I say: Accuse me. I am part of a large, bipartisan coalition in Congress supporting Israel. I tell Israel’s detractors: Accuse us,” Hoyer said at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual conference at Washington’s Convention Center.

...and yes, when one takes orders from a foreign leader, you are showing "dual loyalty".

Switch out any of those other nationalities with Israel, and Hoyer's statement would amount to a small scandal.

Paul Wellsone would have stood with Hoyer:

Paul Wellstone hailed as one of top supporters of Israel

Sam Kaplan went on to serve as Wellstone’s finance and campaign chairman and, later, as President Barack Obama’s ambassador to Morocco.

On a warm June weekend four months before Wellstone’s death, the Kaplans threw a re-election fundraiser. About 20 protesters showed up, taking Wellstone to task for what they considered his overly pro-Israel position in the Middle East.

“Paul came up to me and said, ‘It’s hot out there and we have all this lemonade, why don’t you take some out to the protesters?’?’’ Sam Kaplan recalled. “Paul had a wonderful ability of dealing with people who gave him a hard time. By the end of the day, they were all talking and taking pictures together.”

For supporting the PLO and not being "Jewish" enough. Whatever Wellstone's support for the Jewish state, it does not compare to this blind dogmatism that has infected too many dems.
