One of my parent's enduring rules was no whining was allowed

It stuck as so many of their rules did. They would point out that we were whining and send us away until we could express ourselves better. It was a very good rule which in time simply eliminated any urge to whine at all. Or, for that matter, to listen to any whining.
My hope is that any thread started for the express purpose of expressing nothing but hopeless despair and defeat with no redeeming value other than to spread depression should be allowed to just sink.
Some of our most erudite and educated and knowledgeable DUers have posted some excellent positive and hopeful threads, full of political savvy and experience. My suggestion is that if you feel crushed over your somewhat unrealistic expectations that you take the time to read the posts of those who know this stuff better than the rest of us. You’ll feel better and you won’t drag others down with you.
