ICE frees 'Dreamer' flight attendant locked up after international flight
A flight attendant who grew up in Dallas was released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention after six weeks in which she faced deportation for traveling abroad for work.
Selene Saavedra Roman, 28, is a DACA recipient who flew from Houston to Mexico in February because her employer, Mesa Airlines, told her that her Dreamer status meant she could leave the U.S. and return without incident. She is also married to a U.S. citizen.
She was detained after her return flight.
She called me crying and said, Come get me, her husband David Watkins told The Dallas Morning News Friday. "I dont have anything official. But Im driving to get her.
Its the power of the media. The story got out, and I guess ICE thought they should do the right thing.
