Crews fight multiple brush fires across region

Crews spent Tuesday afternoon putting out separate brush fires across Western Washington.

Just before 2:30 p.m., Medina police said a downed power line caused a small brush fire at the intersection of 80th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 10th Street. Crews had to close the roadways.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office said a brush fire had burned about 80 acres. The DNR is investigating the fire.

Pierce County Firefighters tweeted after 3 p.m. that crews were battling a 3-acre brush fire in the 2300 block of 276th Street East.

In Graham, crews extinguished a brush fire that started as a small burn pile and quickly got out of control.

EATONVILLE, WA - A large brush fire was burning in a rural area west of Eatonville Wednesday afternoon. The fire was so large, firefighters were warning that residents might have to evacuate.

The fire was burning near the intersection of SR 702 and Jackson Road, which is just west of SR 7 near the Jehovah's Witnesses temple.

"Firefighters urge residents on Jackson Road to evacuate as this fire continues to grow," the Pierce County Firefighters union wrote on Twitter.
