The Miami Herald, which has been doing stellar reporting on this story, has found more evidence on the bizarrely light sentence Jeffrey Epstein was given in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from underage girls. According to the newspaper, The lawyer for the 16-year-old girl who state prosecutors now say was the victim attached to the mysterious plea deal given to multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein says neither he nor his client was ever informed that it was her case that ended Epsteins prosecution.
Disturbingly, the victim alleged brutal sexual assault, which was not made part of the case. Further, the judge seems to have been told, falsely, that the victim and her lawyer was informed about the case. The government side of the case was handled by Alexander Acosta, at the time the US Attorney for Miami. He is currently the secretary of labor. Congressional Democrats have a full plate, but among the many scandals they need to step up pressure to hold Acosta accountable.

(23,102 posts)They are criminals and Acosta is particularly dirty, trading political favors for little girls lives - I want him to go down to the depths of hell for his treachery and the pain he and his clients caused these young girls! Same for Kavanaugh. I know we have to have a Democratic president first, but 2020 isn't that far away.

Just have to "say" they agree a trail would have found them guilty in exchange for a free pass......read a book.....attend a class.....community service, he will claim allowing Patriots to play for the community time served. (23,102 posts)This is not a fair world and rich white men makes all the rules in their favor.
My mom used to say - "fair comes once a year and stays for 10 days only". Mom was pretty smart for someone who had to drop out of school to help support her family at age 10 during the depression.

(8,741 posts)I agree, there "should" be no vacancy left at GITMO after all these treasonous assholes are convicted. I have lots of hopes and dreams and those are what keep us all striving to get to where justice "is" for all and past this hell.

(13,524 posts)The court in a 2-1 decision said it will unseal the summary judgment documents on March 19. It gave lawyers for the parties until that time to lodge any objections.

(32,639 posts)He had no way of knowing in 2008 that Chump would become pResident in 2016. The quid pro quo was not giving him the job as Labor Secretary, there had to be something else. Otherwise he wouldn't have done it. Epstein must have given him a lot of money, or maybe a boat, or something traceable. Acosta belongs in jail in the cell right next to Epstein's. Lock them both up!

I will believe it when I see it if this case is unsealed and a new trial held.

(58,785 posts)The choice of victim or victims included in the charging document and particularly their ages was significant, and another break for Epstein among a series of many concessions. Had prosecutors chosen someone younger, it could have led to more rigorous monitoring requirements as part of Epsteins registered sex offender status, the Post reported. ...
Whats more, the victim was far from the underage prostitute that federal and state prosecutors tried to paint her as.
Despicable pigs. The Miami Herald is not publishing the victim's birthdate to protect her, but she was, of course, one of many who were under age at the time.
