Norwegian rapper who cursed Jews during performance was criticizing Israel, prosecutors say

A Norwegian rapper who cursed Jews while performing at an event in Oslo promoting multiculturalism will not be charged with hate speech because his words may have been criticism of Israel, prosecutors said.

Kaveh Kholardi said “f***ing Jews” on stage at an event last year for which he was hired by the city.

But it's so depressing and disappointing when people on the left enthusiastically accept that excuse.

Anyone anywhere can say anything. The difference is will the government imprison or murder you for it? Take North Korea - any citizen can insult Kim Jong-un - it's just some muscle movements in the throat and mouth, but the penalty is probably death.

Now society may react negatively to your speech, but that is not the same as official government punishment.

I know Europe has more restrictions than the US and frankly, I'm making no judgement on which way is right. I certainly have no problem with boycotting advertisers who hawk their products all over Fox News because that's free speech also.

He's also a 24 year old Norwegian-Persian rapper, and therefore verging on utter cultural irrelevance, particularly to Americans.

is that it’s always about Israel. No statement made after 1948 has ever been anti-Semitic, but rather justifiable criticism of BiBi Netanyahu.

As I remember it, Americans on the left admired Israel until the '67 war. I was aware of a sudden change in attitude when the scale of the Israeli victory became clear. Perhaps the antisemitism had been there all along, but it suddenly became visible, even then under the guise of criticism of Israel.
