(108,980 posts)I think it's likely someone else -- probably his rich father -- simply gifted him the money. And gift tax returns are filed by the donor, not the receiver.

(4,533 posts)He said he charged sports tickets on his credit cards and then the others reimbursed him. Maybe a group of six or eight? Home mortgage might be $8000 per month. They might get annual gifts from parents. Quite a few well off parents give kids the annual gift tax exclusion amount of $14,000 or so per child. Some give 14,000 to child plus 14,000 to childs spouse, the amount exempt from gift tax. I doubt there is corruption here.
