Catholic School in Kansas Faces a Revolt for Denying a Same-Sex Couple's Child

Excellent!!!

A Catholic school in Kansas is facing pressure to reverse its decision not to enroll a child with married same-sex parents.

More than 1,200 people have signed a petition presented to the institution, St. Ann Catholic School in Prairie Village, urging administrators to allow the child into kindergarten at the school, which serves students through eighth grade. Over a third of the people who had signed by Friday were parish members or had children enrolled in the school; others belonged to different parishes.

“One of the many reasons that we choose to send our children to St. Ann is the welcoming culture, which is central to the original ministry of Jesus Christ,” said an accompanying letter addressed to Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann and the superintendent of the archdiocese’s schools, Kathleen O’Hara.

“We ask you to consider the many ways that other modern marriages may be inconsistent with the Church’s teaching on Sacramental marriage (i.e. vasectomy, IVF, divorce, and remarriage without approved annulment),” the letter said. “Further, St. Ann does accept non-Catholic children and families into our school. Presumably, these families are not in marriages that are conformant to the teachings of the Church.”

The controversy in Prairie Village, a city of about 21,000 people in the Kansas City metropolitan area ...

I sent my kid to catholic school for a few years. The families were very welcoming and genuine, and passionate about creating a loving, idealistic environment for their kids. And it is completely unchristian to treat any child as unwelcome for ANY reason.

Jesus said "Let the little children come to me". Not "Let the little children of heterosexually married couples come to me.". Unless that particular catholic church is using a Bible I don't know about.

Though I see myself as Christian, the people who lead various churches certainly do not act the way that I understand how Jesus would have acted. My understanding of Jesus is that he welcomed everyone. Without exception. I boil down my faith to "love God, and your neighbour as yourself." First part is easy. Second not so and I fall short there. But I try

I have the King James memorized from my childhood, so bear with me.

"Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven." The last bit is important, "such is the Kingdom of Heaven." Excluding children because you do not approve of the parents is to reject the Kingdom of Heaven.

Church has to be saying who can screw whom, no matter how badly they screw up!
Sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex.
Sex is more important than the teachings of Christ! Sex is more important than any of the Ten Commandments, even those dealing with SEX!
