Trump budget to include $100M for daughter Ivanka's women's fund


The funds would come through the U.S. Agency for International Development budget, an agency whose budget Trump previously sought to cut.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's 2020 budget proposal will include $100 million for a global women's fund spearheaded by his daughter Ivanka Trump.

A White House official told The Associated Press that the budget, expected to be released Monday, will include the funding for the Women's Global Development and Prosperity Initiative. The administration last month launched the government-wide project, led by the Republican president's daughter and senior adviser.

The new initiative aims to help 50 million women in the developing world get ahead economically over the next six years. It involves the State Department, the National Security Council and other agencies. And it aims to coordinate current programs and develop new ones to help women in areas such as job training, financial support and legal or regulatory reforms.

Trump has previously sought to cut USAID's budget. His full 2020 plans were not available Friday.


The White House also is expected to announce that the president will nominate Kelley Eckels Currie to serve as an ambassador-at-large for global women's issues. That position, established under President Barack Obama's administration, had been vacant since Trump took office.

I'm sure that she'll spend a lot of time sitting around huge conference tables, sipping mineral water and nodding photogenically for the cameras, but meanwhile in the REAL world, REAL charities are struggling to make a difference on a shoestring.

My favorite is Mama Biashara - run mainly by one woman who travels to Kenya to give micro-loans to the poorest people so that they can start businesses to support themselves. She brings back craft works that they've made and sells them in a shop to keep the whole cycle going. In recent years she's also been devoting more time to raising money to help desperate children in need of shelter and medical attention.

This is a recent Facebook post. Can you IMAGINE Ivanka being able to comprehend ANY of it?

As you know we are supporting a home for survivors of child rape in Nairobi. You have helped with Shealiver (who now is walking, peeing, pooing and smiling after five operations to repair her insides), you helped with Faith (raped by her father and held prisoner illegally in Kenyatta Hospital because we could not pay her fee).
NOw the home has two new girls. And both are massively damaged. One - after being gang raped (aged 9) will need a hysterectomy. We have talked and decided that the best thing to do is get each girl an NHIF card which will pay for the basics of any hospital stay (as long as the officials in the NHIF office do not decide to play funny buggers) including delivery of the babies.
There are 19 girls who do not have cards. These cards pay for the bed costs and a small bit of medical care. But the bills without them are thousands. And then the hospitals imprison the girls if they are not paid. Despite it now being illegal.
So I am going to list the girls here. Each one of them needs £50.00 for one year's coverage.

JULIET is 12. She was raped by three men who took turns, vaginally and anally. she needs a hysterectomy and treatment for the appalling infections she now has

SHARON is 15. She is a total orphan (all immediate family dead) who was raped by a cousin in the home where she was being looked after

LATAFA is 14. She was pimped out by her aunt and was seriously burnt after refusing to have sex with the man her Aunt had agreed a price

PAMELA is 15. She was raped by her father after he had an altercation with her mother. The mother ran and left Pamela

ALICE is 13 and was being raped daily by her older brother until found by child services and brought to the home

SALAMA is now 10. She was being raped frequently by her father when she was aged 5. At that time she was brought to the home

HADIJA is 14. Her mother left home and her father started raping her

LAVENDAR is 7. Her father was raping her every day before she went to school. He had several STDs whoich he passed on to Lavendar

MARYANN is 14. She was being raped by her uncle who was in loco parentis after the death of her mum and dad

GIROLIA is 8. She was raped by her father after he beat her mother half to death

SHIALIA is now 12 she was raped by her father when she was aged 5. The fate of her mother is unknown

JOY is 13 and an orphan who was being raped by her brother

DOROCAS is now 15. Her mother is an alcoholic and
her father started raping her when she was 7

SHATEL is 12. Her mother ran away and her father started raping her when she was 5. She came to the home when she was 7

£50 per year will cover very basic medical needs for each.
